Townson Design Championships

This year the Townson 32 Championships broadens its scope with the introduction of a series for other Townson designs to run concurrently.

“The Townson 32's have had their Class Championships now for 35 years and still seem to be going strong,” explains Class President Tony Kendall. “Over the last few years, a number of other Townson design owners have joined the T32 Owners Association as a group to belong to and numbers continue to grow.”

“As we are annually holding the Townson 32 Class Championships, it was decided that why not have a series for other Townson designs at the same time as a separate division. Response has been good,” says Kendall.

The Event is to be held on Saturday April 17th and will consist of two windward / leeward courses and then a harbour course. The event, hosted by Bucklands Beach Yacht Club, will be a non spinnaker series. The course will be held off the entrance to the Tamaki River with the start time of approx 10.05 or 10.10 am.

“This will be a trial event to measure the acceptance, format and level of participation of the other Townson designs,” says Kendall.

In addition to this, a special logo has been created as a Townson symbol reflecting Des's appreciation of the aerofoil shape as used on the Zephyr Class and the Electrons and representing the multitude of his designs.

Entries close Thursday 15th April, and entry forms are available from Bucklands Beach Yacht Club email bucksbya@clear.net.nz or tonykendall@xtra.co.nz

In other news for Townson 32 owners... Townson 32 Class President Tony Kendall has just published the latest Class Rules (last amended November 2009) to the class subsite. Check out the latest Townson 32 Class Rules here, and the Townson 32 subsite welcome page for more information on the class.
