He's 70 years old, he is wearing his inflatable inside out deliberately because its more comfortable, and the green saftey clip on his firing mechanism is missing which potentially means the co2 cylinder may or may not be charged and he's sailing on Lake Wanaka in November. He pitches in to the drink no mention of cold water shock but I would imagine Lake Wanaka in November would not be an inviting place to swim. Sadly he drowns and yet the coroner recommends to Maritime NZ that life jackets should be compulsory for all. You cannot regulate stupidity It is also a timely reminder to check your own inflatable life jackets, make sure your green clip is in and unscrew the cylinder and make sure its a live one Note do not screw the cylinder back in if the green clip is missing because you may end up screwing in into the firing pin and it may discharge.
