Guest Posted November 14, 2013 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Weiti Wildlink Project On behalf of the Conservation Volunteers NZ What: River Clean Up Cruise When: Sunday 24th Nov 11am - 2pm Where: Meet at Weiti Boating Club Boat Ramp, 1 Fairhaven Walk, Wade Heads This event is part of an exciting new initiative the ‘Weiti Wildlink’ project - a project that will begin to restore the stream banks of the Weiti River with native planting, provide a better home for fish and other wildlife, and help keep our river and beaches clean. For the first event we will be going for a boat cruise up and down the Weiti River and will be getting stuck in doing a litter clean up along the riverbanks. Places on the boat are strictly limited. They do one every year in Zurich - The dive clubs get together and haul all the urban crap out of the river which has been chucked in during the last year... bicycles, old tyres, shopping trolleys, pump actions... your everyday sort of urban rubbish.
