    Oops

Oh no, That's the other Vorpal Blade that has been on trade me with the very big cruising cabin setup.
  3. Don't forget the bolt rope track around the edges for the clear screens BP, got to keep the weather out! I've got a flexible plastic track suitable for going around even tight corners like on JB's lid (with a bit of gentle persuasion from a heat gun).
  4. On the North Shore the BP on Northcote road still does bottle fills
  5. If you are going to do that I'm sure we could find a spare bunk for you on Saturday night.
  6. Ok multis, who is up for our Annual Anniverrsary weekend cruise? Mahurangi Friday and Saturday to watch the Classics and then a casual race over to Kawau on Sunday - maybe TC could come up with some handicaps and we have a Mark Foy start so we all get to Bon Accord at a similar time. Lots of interest expressed so far but if we can get some definites we may be able to organize some family friendly activities, kids entertainment etc. How about some of the 8.5s not heading to Bay week partner up with a mother ship for comfort and join in too. If the weather is good the 8.5s could take a pass
  7. I would suggest 100A/hrs sn't enough for a house system. I've tried that and despite 240W Solars/MPPT etc we, ( or more accuratelily THEY) managed to bleed it dry and kill the battery. Don't just consider the daily loads think about the drain that happens overnight/all the time when there are no solars going on - kids watching DVDs, instruments, fridge going 24/7, toilet pumps, galley pumps, stereo (loud setting), anchoring lights as per the other thread, the casual iPhone on the charger overnight, cabin lights left on 'cos the kids know ON but not OFF etc etc. All of a sudden there's no ergs
  8. Plenty to comment on here but I will dig out a few photos over the next while and post up some solutions. I've seen and tried most methods but always come back to individual lashings around fibreglass rods. I'm definitely not keen on a single line lashing for an entire side, unless it's for a very short term. Even then I would rolling hitch every metre or so. Bias cut bolt rope tramps never get tight no matter how hard you pull 'em, they also travel around on the bolt ropes as they stretch more in the centre which changes the edge length - result is they are always noisy to walk on as the bol
  9. try this stuff - Tenax RF1 at www.polynet.co.nz Sold by the metre if you can find a stockist in Auckland.
  10. Sure, but we are going there this weekend, does that count?
  11. So it would be ideal for multihulls then!!
  12. Yes but unfortunately those that supposedly know more than us about these things make it their life's work to ensure there are rules to protect the dumbest - at the major inconvenience of the rest of us at the other end of the statistics curve. I have had the misfortune of experiencing a drowning off my boat, a very experienced yachtie just doing what we would always do in that same situation. It hasn't changed my approach to lifejackets.
  13. We need a bit of levity here, in the boatyard least weekend I snapped this pic and it is deserving of the appropriate caption.... (the Capricorns have given their OK to having our humour lavished upon them) Andrew has even offered his own to start it all rolling a) What do you mean “my bottom still looks foul?” “Finish that painting bitch, or…or…. I’ll jump!”
  14. I would doubt the squaddy would make exceptions for entries to RNZYS members only races - especially for multis.
  15. The Maharani/Kawau weekend is one of the best events on the multihull calendar, it should be compulsory!!
  16. That bits the easy part, wager rum in copious volumes and they will come.
  17. All going according to plan we might even be able unleash the VB for its first ever race, could be a fun "client entertainment" evening.
  18. I would also like to add to what Phil said and congratulate the Coastal organisers on the new start time format - so much better than the old sequence. Perviously we had to dodge nearly all the entrants manoeuvring around in the start box area which sometimes lead to a few close calls. Now with the two smaller divisions starting earlier we get concentrate more on what we need to rather than have to constantly dodge smaller slower boats all setting up for a start.
  19. And from shortly before that vid was taken here is the view looking back at them from Sundreamer, very satisfying... apologies about the low quality resolution but it was max zoom and they were so far behind !
  20. Ive rescued a few bits from the rubbish pile that accumulated over the weekend, you chose - 30mm ID x 4mm wall x 175mm long 25mm ID x 2mm wall x 359mm long 15mm ID x 3mm wall x 300mm long make it quick as its heading for the tip early next week.
  21. Not so much a hole in the bow, a whole bow.
  22. All this could of course lead to the ultimate teams racing competition, the 8.5s and bigger race boats team up with a cruising boat and combined results for things each has to do go to make up the final points results. Race boats maybe elapsed time points etc, cruisers have the challenge of getting there and making things cosy for the raft up with extra points for fish size caught while underway and a proportionate handicap based on something - TC jump in here - unless of course you suggest it's a system based on screen size, amp power and how many people you can entertain - you will win eve
  23. Update, he has actually bought his old Farr boat back and is now the proud owner of two boats!
  24. While I don't do upholstery I work very closely with a guy that specialises in it - Paul at Timeless Upholstery 027 491 8647. Don't rush out and buy anything thinking it wii save you $$ until you have spoken to him. As Ken says the good stuff is expensive and the $40 foam mattresses at the Plastic Box and other retailers isn't that flash and something I wouldn't ever use for a boat squab, particularly is its to sleep on.
  25. I believe he is looking at buying his old 1/2 tonner back.
