  1. Heya,

Thanks for the kind wishes and check ins. Unfortunately, after being rushed to the hospital, we ended up spending the last 8 months in and out of the hospital system, and are only just now leaving the hell behind us. And....we are selling our girl, Satori. Sad indeed, but also many positive things to look forward to.

We really appreciate all the kindness. Thank you!

  2. 🧐SEEKING BOAT FOR 2-4 WEEKS ANY TIME APRIL/MAY/JUNE⛵️

    WHAT:
I am seeking a boat in the Pacific Islands, Australia, or New Zealand to join for about 2 to 4 weeks (can be flexible). I am hoping to join a boat that is doing at least one multi-day passage, including crossing the Tasman. I would be flying to & from Auckland, New Zealand to join.

    BIO:
I have been sailing since April 2019. I started out by getting my Yachting NZ Level 1 and 2 qualifications; sailing with the Friday Rum Races as Westhaven several times as well as on a few private boats for leisure; and doing a 5 day course with Great Escape up in Bay of Islands.

In July 2020, hubby and I purchased and captained a 1990 Whiting 40), which we sailed around the east coast of the North Island to Tauranga for the past year until my husband experienced a medical emergency which forced our sailing dream to cease. However, I still sail and captain the boat until she is sold, and I sail with Sniper at the Gulf Harbour races.

I joined the 2021 South Island Rally on a Vickers 45 from Lyttelton to Akaroa, Akaroa to Marlborough Sounds, and then around the Marlborough Sounds. The Captain, Mark, can provide a reference upon request.

On my own boat, we did all the maintenance ourselves, so I am very familiar with diesel engines, water systems, sail repair, prop maintenance, rudder/steering issues, ground tackle, electrics, etc.

I am clean, organised, proactive, flexible, can cook up a few good meals, willing to learn and I LOVE dogs!

If okay with the skipper, I would love to film and document the experience on my YouTube channel, Sailing Pivo (all videos will be run by anyone featured for review before publishing). Safety will always be prioritized over filming.

  3. My name is Danielle, and I am seeking a boat to crew on starting around February for about 3 months. I have my Yachting NZ Levels 1 & 2, have raced several times, and I have been captaining my own 40 foot monohull for the past 18 months. I am an American Citizen based in New Zealand and have permanent residency here.

So, here's my story, why I am looking for a boat..... youtube.com/sailingpivo if you want to watch it.

Hubby and I bought our boat in July 2020 and we went full time in December 2020. In June 2021, we were rushed to the hospital where a massive 8cm tumor was discovered in my husband's brain and he was rushed into emergency surgery. Pure hell ensued for the next 7 months as an infection developed, he lost a piece of his skull to the infection, and then New Zealand went into a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid, which delayed the surgery to replace the missing skull bone.

Now, 7 months since the diagnosis, we are finally coming out the other end, but we are both burnt out and need some time alone to think about what is next for us. It is possible if I gain more experience sailing, that hubby will return to our sailing life.

I have a dream to cross the Pacific, and that would be my preferred boat, but any option is an option. I have heaps of energy, and I was always the person able to stay awake during long watches. I also picked up on the maintenance super fast as I am very resourceful and handy.

I appreciate your consideration, and hope to be able to sail with one of you awesome souls.
  4. We're looking for crew to join our boat for an indefinite period of time. ️ Must be dog-obsessed, be okay with copious amounts of beer taking up the space of hygiene products, able to crack a *good* dad joke at least 1x/day, and able to cook up more than ramen noodles.

Experienced sailors, handypeople, those with videography/photography experience, beer brewers, and professional chefs preferred. You will be expected to contribute to boat costs and shared meals and help out with all boat work/projects.

If interested, send us a DM to meet for a beer & chat. We aim to be in Whitianga in a few days and then Tauranga a week or two later.

If we jibe, then we'll talk through the details together. You can get a feel for us by checking out our YouTube channel, youtube.com/SailingPivo , which we would love for our crew to be a part of, but its optional.

Note that we are fairly new sailors ourselves, and are a rainbow friendly boat. 🙂 🌈

We cannot pick anyone up at a certain spot, and we have no idea when we'll be in certain places. We're looking for crew now near Tauranga, and we'll see how things go for the future. You can keep an eye on our social media pages to see if we're in your area, and shoot us a DM. Sorry team! Can't make further plans in the sailing life!

  5. Hello,

My wife, dog, and I have recently bought a boat here in NZ.  We are still relatively new to sailing but we are keeping a vlog for memories and family back home in the USA.  Check out our channel if you want to come along for the adventure!  We are not kiwis but we are permanent residents.
