My Raymarine Autopilot course computer has failed and im looking for a X5 or X10 course computer to replace it.

If anyone is looking to upgrade their old one or knows of one that might be available then let me know.

Any course computer thats compatable with ST60 and an ST4000 Tiller drive would work but it has to be one that doesnt need a rudder sensor.

Boo Boo I have an X5  surplus to requirements - if you still need?

Certainly was a very regretful decision. All the PredictWind weather routes showed that as being the best route but we should never have split with the fleet there. It also didn't help that I have never sailed around there and in my mind the Mercs were a short nip up from the bottom end of Barrier. That was a most awful and unnecessary extra 30 mile beat 😐 I'd hate to think how far we sailed in that race. Lots learned and I am happy that we finished.

Yeah - the maths look good at the time and even at 12:00am off Fitzroy we were looking good- but by Tryphena it all went bad. We had to sail damn hard the rest of the way- luckily we made good ground to Colvile and also through the gap at Motuhui - so only an hour +  late to the finish.

So today was my first day on my new Raven 31 boat and I did something very stupid. As I was figuring out how things were working on the boat I dropped a wooden dipstick in the fuel tank. I don’t think there is any way to fish it out through that small hole, so my plan is to leave it there for the next few weeks and then in January, when I have a haul out scheduled for an anti foul, get someone to take the tank out and hopefully extract the dipstick. I’m afraid this is not going to be a cheap exercise as I think you need to get the engine out before you can get the tank out.

I’m thinking it would be ok to use it in the short term, I don’t think that dipstick is going anywhere. But in the long term it would start dissolving and particles could find their way into the engine?

Anyone has any better ideas or advice? Do you think it’s safe to use the engine for the time being?

    Thanks

Ezy Peezy - All you need is a set of 'Magic Fingers'  (Super Cheap)  and  a stick light then go fishing - done it many times.   Wood wont dissolve !

  5. The TYPBC  A2T race is scheduled for the weekend of March 25 2022.  However due to the Auckland lockdown this has forced the RNZYS to reschedule the 3 kings race to 31st March, which is a week after the A2T.  Puts us in a difficult spot, for A2T boats to be entered in both events.

Understandably RNZYS have moved the 3Kings to the best available slot.

TYPBC are looking forward to the A2T  but feel the 3Kings date may affect  entries for the A2T.

    So what to do?

    (1) Stick with the 25th March ?

    (2) Move the A2T back to the traditional Easter Weekend  with a race start on Good friday- Also we have free berths for up to 7 days in TGA, for boats up to 14M

    Appreciate your feedback soonest.

  6. The divergence of industry in general from the main centers is inevitable.  This being driven by the reasons you mentioned.  There is fabulous opportunity for the marine industry in coastal regional centers, such as Whangarei Tauranga, Gisborne,Napier etc.  Tauranga has got to be the jewel in the crown with 2 very good clubs, with a stellar reputation when it comes to champions.  just an example.   The country's only deep water port, when it comes to export. The Bay of Plenty has several active clubs, as well as BOPTYS in Rotorua which is the largest trailer yacht squadron in the country- Plenty of room for sports boats too.  They cater for anything that floats, and you can still drink the water.
