  1. Hi can anyone recommend the best way of securing the drop boards on a boat. I had a padlock on when they broke in which was cut with bolt cutters. I suppose if they wanted they could have just booted in the drop boards. Just wondered what other methods people use and also what to do with the outboard when not in use. Maybe just remove it!
  2. Hi all, Today I discovered my Yamaha 8hp (serial No 1022269 long shaft )has been taken along with the fuel tank off the back of my boat moored out at Orakei. The thieving scum also broke into the boat and took a few other personal items. please keep a look out any info would be gratefully received
  3. Hi all I have been asked to get a condition report by an insurance company. Does anyone have any idea of costs and any recommended companies in the Auckland area. One of the insurance companies said it could be carried out on the water??
  4. Here is the photos the listing got taken down but the boat is not sold yet

No seemed to be because he didn't know the exact details of the boat (make, model)

    Boat Wanted

I have been looking online and contacted Bruce Roberts but they said they didn't recognise it as one of theirs. I spoke to someone who thinks it might be a wagstaff. Seemed a great boat to be fair but the previous owners said we would struggle to get insurance on it! He only got it by having multiple policies and they added the boat on

Is there any thing I need to be aware of if it is glass over ply topsides and double diagonal hull glassed? I also was considering going to see this one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =642813193

    Boat Wanted

I went to see a raven yesterday they do really seem solid boats with plenty of room & it was within my budget but it had just a bit too much work for me at this current time and especially starting out. If I had the extra $ I would definitely look to purchase one

I have looked at both of those listings and considered them but they both have suffered from osmosis or blistering especially the second listing which states it had an osmosis job in 2005. Now I'm no expert but have been advised to stay away anything like that even though the 2nd listing looks a good buy at that price.

I have spotted that listing and agree it is a lot of boat for the money but I just couldn't stretch to that price at this time but would definitely make an offer if they would drop it within my budget I know you're right that buying at the cheaper end of the market could be more costly in the long run so hopefully I will find something half decent but will definitely try to budget in maintenance costs
