  1. Fantastic post by all. Very interesting reading.

We have a 9 month old girl who just did not want to go to sleep on our trailer yacht till it was dark. In summer this was 10.00 when her bed time at home was 6.00!

After a few nightmare nights away recently we found that a walk in the carrier or pram at about bed time was enough to put her to sleep and although we had to wake her to put a life jacket on to get her back to the boat she stayed drowsy enough that putting her down was much easier.

Also at the start we were trying to structure our sailing around her nap times so she would nap before or after we sailed. again we had the light issue, cant make the boat dark. Then we tried (thanks to this forum) sailing at nap time and putting her inside, low in the boat (so she doesnt get thrown around) in her car seat. She fell asleep in 5 minutes and slept for the entire 2 hour passage. Brilliant. Sleeping baby = relaxed mummy= happy family.

Thanks to all who have contributed.

  2. Hi all, I am just trying to get my head around the pros and cons of the hard chined keeler. There are a few hard chine designs that seem to have done very well for themselves (pied piper) and seem to perform very well, so why are there not more of them? What disadvantages do they have racing or cruising? Fro cruising they create more internal volume, for racing they plane easliy. so there must be some serious disadvantages because there are very few of them.

    Cheers.

  3. Ok, thanks for the advice. Does any one know of a single pot paint that may be suitable for the inside of a boat as a one pot, no primer sort of deal to paint over timber, old paint and fibreglass? It is a trailer boat so is pretty dry in there.

    Thanks for the advice.

  4. Hi all, I have read up about a paint called Durapox on these forums and am keen to try this for repainting the inside of my boat.

Google says Resene make it. So I called resene, they say they can get it but its an Altex product and quoted me a reasonable price for a 4 litre pack.

I rang Wairau Paint Centre, they said it was a Resene product and quoted me about $100 more but for a 5 litre pack?

Burnsco dont have it, Sailors corner dont have it, Orams Marine store dont have it.

I would go with the Resene pack but the differance in pack sizes leads me to believe they are refering to different products.

Anyone know where I can get this stuff for a reasonable price, I need about 4 litres to start with. Also, presumably it is used in a thinned state (roller application) so will need thinners as well.

    Thanks.
