I went to the marina office yesterday. They were very good. They said they could only release camera footage to the police, which they were happy to do. I went to the police to file a report. They couldn't be less interested. The lady behind the counter said they would take the details but would not be doing anything about it. She then put on her best patronising tone and said I should check the boat more often and take the electronics home. I can't say they impressed me much. Unfortunately my excess is reasonably high to keep the premium a bit less nasty, so no point claiming. First time in 35 years that I've had a boat burgled, not a great feeling.

You might like to be aware that there is a thief around on the piles. My boat was broken into and the GPS and Autohelm was stolen within the last few days.

Be wary ! Was very kind of the b#$#@^& to leave a set of sailing gloves.

My boat is 50 metres from the floating dock and even the tired old bungy cord on the cockpit cover isn't broken. Consider myself VERY lucky !

I think the barge thing is a bit of a smoke screen. Even if it happens it will be years away. Resource consent to dredge Tamaki River ? I think the biggest thing is when Wilson points out that the cruise ships could use Bledisloe wharf more or less already. I think the problem is POAL's empire building ethos. The dolphins look like a dead dog now thank god.

I used to sail out of Okahu bay in the 90's. I would be sailing at 5 knots in my old classic trying to stay clear of all the 12 footers screaming around. They used to think it was great fun to come straight at me on port and turn at the last moment. It used to scare the s@#t out of me. In the end I gave up trying to stay clear. (sometimes they were racing so i would try and stay clear even on stbd)They got the message in the end.

I have been told about a company in the Netherlands that cuts GRP boats into strips, puts it in some form of resin and makes them into sheet piling. With 6000km of canals in the Netherlands there is a requirement for a S@#t load of sheet piling.
