  1. I have just got back from westhaven, ironically I was working for the marina. My car was parked on the loading zone (work car, private car has the sticker) for about 45 minutes. Upon returning I have a parking ticket for $65 from wilson parking. I went around to the boat ramp to help my mate put his boat back on the trailer. Lo and behold, he has a ticket too. He was 18 minutes over his time. Wilson's want $65 from him too. I am somewhat annoyed by the heavy handed approach from westhaven. I figure there is little point in talking to them as they will use their standard argument :"we have contracted wilson parking, talk to them"

The reason I am posting this is twofold.

Firstly to warn everyone about the parking nazi's

And secondly to point out that you are not legally obliged to pay the fine.

Please read the link below. Only the Government or councils have the right to fine us plebs.

Wilson's can only charge us for their loss from me parking there. As the loading zone was nowhere full (also the boat ramp park) there is no loss suffered by anyone, therefore no fine.

Westhaven may have had a bit of an argument if it was over the weekend but friday morning with an empty carpark ?

  2. At the risk of contradicting myself. Doesn't the rain thing work because if you are running, the angle of the rain effectively changes from coming straight down to more of an angle, hence more surface area. On that basis my analogy with the rain is wrong. However I am not convinced I am wrong with the speed versus time argument.

  3. If this is theoretical, I would assume there is no difference. It's the same argument about whether you get wetter if you run in the rain. On one hand you spend less time on the water but on the other you cover more ground over that time meaning you are at more risk. One cancels out the other.
