  3. Hi guys Need new perspex windows ( 10mm smoke or grey).  Confused after research as to different types. Who do I go to on the shore. Also if I cut to shape what the best way? Presume jig saw with fine teeth and sand with wet and dry. Windows fixed externally so looking to  go screw free.

    Any ideas welcome.

  4. Spent a few hours talking to Andrew before his presentation at SYC. He has thought this through fully not only in terms of the boat and its suitability but also as to where he and his family are at in terms of age, obligations and responsibilities. This is his window of opportunity. I can only wish him well.

If anyone needs a speaker he was outstanding with a great sense of humour and timing. I am sure he is keen to put money in the kitty before you see him go.

  5. Knot me

Looking to upgrade to a Supreme in the next few months. (10kg +/- for beamy 31 ft)).  At this stage lifted off bow each use.  What  "Can you get better for the same or less coin?".  Understand (and want)your personal perspective and that it is not a commercial endorsement. Ta

  6. Harry, the Cav 26 does tends to pitch a fair bit with its fine ends so loss a lot of forward momentum (I had one called Panic Mouse for several years). Several times had quiet a job getting through the Motuhie Channel and ended up sailing which was a pain short handed and short tacking  as she needed a powerful genoa. The kiwi prop is unlikely to be the problem which I presume is on a 2gm20 (16hp). My Raven has this set up and has good drive as doesn't pitch due to its big bum.

  7. Moored at Algies and raced with Sandspit yacht Club. Think we were anchored next to Starfinder for new years eve 1999/2000, round from Russell in what was a wet new year

  8. I had a wooden Nova (Summer Breeze) for about 10 years.Covered a lot of miles between Auck/Barrier/BOI and still have very fond memories.  Great sea boat with motion better than most. Best improvement I made was a fully batterned main. Often rather than reef could dump...wait a while and then get going again. Also liked to heel over and put her shoulder in. (The hull wouldn't look out of shape with a long keel). Made a little more leeway but better speed as waterline closer to 28 feet rather than 22.

I am sure you will appreciate the Nova for what she is ...a classic small cruiser with the ability to keep going long after you don't really want to. Well done Alan Wright.

  9. Opens a can of worms. If events can not be gender specific the that effectively ends the olympics for women in almost all sports, changes all school sport with a dramatic fall off in participation mainly among girls.

Agree with IT though to treat anybody this way regardless of their age, gender, religion or race is disgusting.

Hasn't Atanosios Papantonio brought the sport into disrepute and shouldn't he be banned.

  10. Flew up to Fiji in 2012 and saw a large area of pumice even from altitude. A week later left to sailed back to NZ. There was a constant pumice field most of way back albeit very dispersed. (in 2015 no pumice sighted). Presume much of the pumice on NZ east coast is from this eruption sequence.

As an aside there was no scratching on the boot topping or anti-foul when we got home. Hull presumably creates a pressure wave that pushes pumice away.
