  1. I have decided to upgrade to a 30hp motor.

Motor and saildrive out of 34ft yacht.

$7.5k spent on motor and sail drive in 2013.

Motor starts and runs very well.

    Unknown engine hours.

Tachometer key start panel and original manual.

No morse control & cables, no frig compressor.

Can be seen running in the boat at Gulf Harbour.

Please note motor and leg are second hand, therefore no warranty.

    $1500

  2. Hi I am pulling out on Monday next, for a bottom scrape.

I have previously used Alex No10 ( light grey colour)

I want to go back to a softer ablative antifouling and have use Altex No5 before.

However I would like stay with the light grey colour but Altex No5 only comes in Red, Black or Blue.

The boat is on the marina at Gulf Harbour.

So I would like some feedback on Warpaint light grey colour please.

  4. Hi I have an old friend living on his yacht, no shore power, who has been inquiring as to whether 12 volt electric blankets are available in NZ ?

He wants to be able to plug into a cigarette light plug, as he does not want to go down the inverter road.

Question; how much power do they use ??

  5. The best thing since sliced bread!!!!! in regard to toilet paper, buy 'Checky Monkey" toilet paper no joke, you can find it in some supermarkets, it absolutely disintegrates when immersed in water and will not bloke the loo.

I have a Farr 1020 and have mounted the holding tank, specially made to fit, up under the anchor well, just a standard toilet, that empties by gravity to the seacock, I just added a shutoff valve at the toilet outlet, to be sure.

Give me a call 029 297 7705 if you need more info.

  6. Hi

I would like to upgrade the cabin headlining in my Farr 1020.

It currently has a fabric lining glued direct to a fixed plywood sub-straight.

I would be keen to renew the lining with a vinyl product of some kind.

    Question;

How easy is it and what are the tricks to the glue a new vinyl lining, overhead ?

    What glue would you use.

Or should I be thinking of making up plywood panels that can be fitted and then covered with vinyl in the workshop.

  8. Hi I have a friend, who some time ago, had a stroke, he is currently living on his boat, I say good on him.

He uses an inflatable dingy to get back a forth to the boat as it is more stable for him to get in and out.

As the inflatable is in the water most of the time it gets fouled quickly.

    Question:

Is there any flexible antifouling that could be used, which is available in NZ or has anybody got any suggestions as to what could be applied to stop or minimise the fouling?
