  1. Have seen some small race cats in europe where the tramp has a line running around the whole outside, and basically hung just from the four corners. Am thinking something similar with zips over the pod hatches.

Have got preliminary design work for trailer which allows loading of boat fully rigged, then folds in for trailing. Suspension design was a head scratcher as hulls need to lift over wheels in the folding process.

Luckily I had a bit of downtime at work, so out with the pencils!

I'm interested in how you solve the trailer folding. I am considering doing the same thing with my cat and have a few basic sketches. Ends up being pretty tall if you keep it all above the wheels but a lot simpler.

  2. They are great boats. Handle rough weather very well and easy to sail single handed. The fin keel versions are a a fair bit better than the bilge keeler option. You could live aboard but would be in a camping type of style :) no standing head room and no shower.

  3. Have used this for a 5.5m power boat before no trouble at all. Non members pay $5 for use and have to park on the road side. It is a nice ramp, we managed at or near low tide and of course very sheltered.

  4. I think the proposal looks good. More trailer parking is good, as in the summer on the weekend, if you don't get down there early you might as well forget about going for a sail. Though you would still have to wheel your boat 150 metres or so to put it in the water (assuming they remove the chain blocking boat access to the beach, wtf).

All that is missing is a breakwater and a floating jetty or two, as the East coast bays has no decent place to launch a trailer sailer.

  5. Just drop your anchor opposite the wharf at Ftzroy. There is plenty of room and it's good holding.

You're kidding right? The holding by the warf at port fitzroy is bad, and there is not much room with all the boat traffic. Your better to go to Wairahi bay or Smokehouse bay.

    No I'm not.

It's deepish but apart from that it's fine. Never had any trouble. All the boat traffic? You been there at this time of the year! :-)

Hmmm... no. Only been there in summer so I could understand it being quieter now but it is also the only place I had my anchor drag. Good spot to go to the shops but would probably be a sleepless night for me.
