Hi shame about the anchor , but old computer hard drive magnets would be the strongest you could use I dropped a crescent in the marina last week i had an old computer in the shed ratted the magnets , next day up comes the crescent , they are so strong ,two magnets together you won’t getthem apart ,

  2. I’ve been running two Navman 5500 for some years on inside and one out and find them good , but the screnes are getting small now but navionics on phone seams to be good but small to see some times that’s why I am heading to the iPad , there is some good protected kits for using them out side but hard to see in daylight. ,

  8. What should the moisture content be for ply or kauri boat , , a mate buying a boat , ply / kauri cruiser racer surveyed today , surveyor said moisture in cabin top 40% and around windows I know a wooden boat holds a certain amount of moisture not counting carvile hulls this is an 80s yacht looks ok , but there must be a certain amount ,

  9. Thanks it just looks crappy , I remember the gipsy moth masts were the originals and they just polished them and they looked brilliant , not sure if they were sanded to get an even surface

  10. Today we hauled the mast of my mates boat it’s raw alloy old but very good condition striped every thing off for new stays and rigging Halyards ets we want to clean it off and just polish it , what do we do , sand it , autosol it what , it’s made of good alloy from the old days

  11. It is has a roughish finnish kiwi grip is applied with a textured roller , so it’s the style finnish you create with the roller , this paint has cranuals of rubber in the paint of eaves size , so just roll it on , three coats , if you need remove it just scrape away it’s very easy , some maxi race boats have it on , it leaves a good looking even finnish , and if you have that old style cork /resin finnish , just go over the top and it’s new again, the old finnish I had was only fading in color after 17 years and crc made that one but closed due to health and safety , why I don’t know , it’s just water base paint , worked for me I have a brochure and all contacts if needed
