  1. Yes actually! I could afford it!!! Also being a Bakewell White I have the opportunity to use Brett's knowledge to improve the yacht to do what I want to do! It also makes a great entry yacht into the class. This yacht is the sister ship to Chris Sayers yacht built side by side. Very well thought out.
  2. Hi, I'd rather keep that too myself for now but I will say that there are plenty out there however its not just buying the yacht its organizing shipping ect that puts the price up by about another 15k
  3. Hi all, So I thought i best give you an update on what I am getting up too with my shorthanded sailing. After crossing the Tasman last year I made the decision to sail Atom Ant as with anything I do money was too tight and bring the yacht back was getting too hard. I wanted to keep up shorthanded sailing up, but doing that without a yacht isn't the easiest. So I made a purchase. I am going mini 650 sailing! With a lot of sorting out over email I have brought the Bake-Well White mini 439 which is only 10 days from arriving in New Zealand from France!!

Yes yacht is for sale. But will keep up racing when I get back from oz.
  6. Today marks another huge mile stone in getting ready for doing the Solo Trans=Tasman yacht race. Atom Ant passed it's Cat 1 inspection with flying colors. This is a huge achievement not only for me but for everyone involved. Thanks to everyone, my sponsors and everyone that has given up their time to help get the yacht to where it is. Tomorrow I start the first part of my challenge. The delivery down to New Plymouth and then the start of the race! To quote my hero, the man that has inspired me to what I am doing today. "To win, you have to believe you can do it. You have to be passionate

Unfortunately starting my qualifier was all I did!!! The autopilot failed 3/4 of the way over to Gulf Harbor. The Ant was loving the 30 knots though hopefully we can get it fixed and try it again next weekend!!!

I was going to do white island but my entry has been declined because I am doing it solo. This is because I can't keep look out all the time. on their rule ever solo race in the would shouldn't take place. Doing my qualifier in December now.

    Solo trans tasman

Hi everyone, I have just had a chat with Richard the race Secretary about qualifiers ect turns out I was reading the whole thing wrong and the 1000 miles they talk about doesn't have to be recorded just the 500 which is going to save me a lot of time off work!!! Going to be a very good race by the sound of it!! Good to see another yacht the closer to Ant size enter!!!!

7.2 Skipper qualifying requirements The skipper must have completed a single handed qualifying cruise in the entered yacht of not less than 500 nautical miles of open sea without anchoring or putting into port before late entries close. The cruise must be unescorted and the 500 miles measured in straight lines between not more than 4 fixes.

    Solo trans tasman

I have put in a brand new Raymarine SPX 5 Plus tiller pilot. Well over sized for my yacht but means it can handle it. I have it integrated with my wing gear and my chart plotter which means it will steer to the wind! At the moment i have just the engine and two small 40w solar panels but i don't think this is enough. I am thinking about putting in another house battery in parallel with the other. After replacing the starter battery this should help. Any ideas??? I'm sure like me there are two or three of us that have to do 1000 miles for our yachts? i was thinking of going to the ke

For power I have been thinking about a wind gen but have been put off. I think the engine will keep the batteries full. What do you want to know about me. I could use some good ideas myself.

Hey you yacht also has to have 1000 nautical mile recorded log. This is what I have to do. Is it necessary to have insurance. I am going to do round white island solo would anyone else be keen to do the same. Would be great if we could get together and talk about stuff. I have got Cat 1 on the Ant. All smaller yachts you have to be careful about you righting ratio. I had to get an incline on the ant to pass.
  25. I am wanting to re-grip my my decks this weekend if the weather holds up. I am going to use Kiwi grip. How do I prep the decks? I was cold you can just use a kitchen scourer?
