Is Butterworth just stirring?

That is true KM, and why I'd like to see them have another go.

It is my understanding that ETNZ had considered a similar foil control system before they left NZ, when they had trouble controlling narrower foils. They knew narrower foils would be better, but decided that a partially automated system would be illegal, and without it they could not control them safely. They went with wider ones. That was a mistake.

The day off was a real brain failure.

Despite the fact the rules allowed for shortened courses, when it was obvious that race would not finish inside the time limit, it was not shortened. No explanation given that I've ever seen.

The foil control was THE major jump in boat speed available - the fairings and pie warmers just minor aerodynamic improvements.

Unfinished business!!!

That's what I've heard as well. It seems everyone thought 'auto' was a no no but it seems O managed to convince the Jury it wasn't. It would be interesting to know what happened in that jury room as TNZ have always pushed boundaries very very hard so for them to dismiss auto as not a happening thing due to legal reasons would heavily suggest it seemed to be quite black and white auto wasn't a go.

agreed, although the mistake was to "decide", not to ASK the jury as oracle did. Of course then the request would have been public, and that might have lead to the opposition knowing something earlier......
