Guest
Can anyone explain the kink/diversion that the been put into the new boardwalk that straddles the St Marys Bay section of Westhaven Drive. Looks all a bit of a adjusted at a latter date design alteration. How bizarre is it to have a detour back to the pavement and then a return to the seaward ramp . Has it got anything to do with not interrupting certain St Marys Bay residents water views???
Guest
I'd say it's to avoid encroaching on the beach (or creating a place to sleep under)

PaulR 3
Have I noticed that some pilings have sunk a little and even without the weight of the decking, there is a noticeable dip? The "Kink" is possibly to allow "all" members of society to experience the closer to the water feeling the council is promoting, especially from the immediate Ponsonby area, cafes etc.
Westhaven Marina 0
Hi Priscilla, Our General Manager Tom Warren, says that the angles offer different aspects, help to slow down any cyclists, and provide space for seats and rest areas. The St Mary's Bay part will be a great focal point for the public's interaction with Westhaven. There are two pages on our websites you might like to look at: 1. About the Promenade, including a map of the route through Westhaven : http://www.waterfrontauckland.co.nz/wat ... side/?ID=8 2.Some info about St Mary's Bay including the two new pontoons: http://www.westhaven.co.nz/westhaven-ne ... s-makeover Many thanks, The Team at Westhaven
