Je'Timmy 0
My 5607 Navman chart plotter backlighting has died. I found a YouTube video showing how to replace the backlight on another brand. Anyone got any ideas or experience with Navman?
Island Time 1,239
Well, no-one else answered. So here are my thoughts - I am NOT an electronics engineer or technician!! There are two main type of back lighting on LCD's, sidelit or backlit. Do you remember if the screen was brighter at the edges? Sidelit is easier. I'm not familiar with the Navman, but if you pull it apart you should be able to see where the light should come from (LEDs). If they are surface mounted into a multi-layer board, repair will be difficult. If they are a strip along the edges of the screen, you may be able to fix it quite easily....but first power it up and ensure there is power to the strip. If there is none, it's going to be hard without a circuit diagram. If there is some, and you can source another strip light, replacement will be easy enough. Someone on here might be an electronics repair specialist???
