vic008 17
Why dont the makers have the outlet as a vertical instead of horizontal that you have to put a 90` elbow on and that looks untidy and takes room. Idiots.
Fish 0
Most likely due to a law of physics. If it's a centrifugal pump the outlet needs to be perpendicular to the axis of the impellor, or in other words, horizontal. A positive displacement type pump such as a progressive cavity pump would have a vertical outlet, but they tend to have lower flow and much higher head. The majority of bilge pump applications would want as high a flow as possible and not that high a head. I'm guessing you can't just turn it on its side as the inlet will be on the bottom and laying it down would leave the inlet clear of the water?
