I have some info here that I thought I would post some of the interesting points from.

There are around 10,000 Recreational Berths in New Zealand.

80% are in the North Island

Northland = 10% with 1039 berths

Auckland = 50% 5106

Bay of Plenty = 12% 1247

Lower North Island = 11% 1075

South Island = 17% 1698

Ruffly 40% of all the Marina berths are controlled by just three of the 24 Marina Operators in NZ.

Westhaven is the biggest Operator with 1432 berths and over 300 pile moorings.

Port Marlborough is second 1188 Berths

Gulf Harbour is third with 1036 Berths

Seven Marinas have ruffly 500 - 600 Berths and the final 13 are under 300.

A large number of Marinas will be facing Re-consenting processes in 2026.

Gulf Harbour being the only exception, having been excavated from a land title and has a 100yr authority from Construction.

Out of the 10,000 Berths in NZ, 63% are "owened"(long term entitlement) and 37% leased.

Westhaven is ruffly 50/50 of each

(Please note, the following prices are not exact as they are read from a bar graph and not a figure)

The most expensive Marina is Whitianga @ about $9300/yr for a 12m berth

Westhaven ruffly $7200.

I don't know where Port Marl. is at with the big dry stack now.They were going to biuld a huge dry stack facility in Waikawa, but had so much opposition, they dropped the idea. I don't know if that will go ahead as part of the new Marina extension or not.

Also when Havelocks wooden fingers get up graded, they will be extended also. However, there are many empty spaces in Havelock now, so the upgrade there may now be 2 or 3 yrs away.

The Motueka marina floating fingers have been built.

The tidal range there is amazing.

I went there at low tide and there were keelboats dried out, leaning against the fixed fingers on the old marina. :shock:
