vic008 17
Very sad yesterday to see a beautiful yacht broken up by a digger and off to landfill. Te Arawa was a Stephens design(presume that is S&S) of about 41' that had seen no maintenance for ages. Some planking had worn against a pile and deck had a hole from a pile, but could have been saved. The Naval Pt Marina wanted her gone (too big , and danger to their structure) Unpaid mooring bills? Surprising just how little worth saving-dinghy, few blocks, lead, was about it.. Impressed by how roomy below, and no wineglass shape, very much Vee shape and lead about 18"w / about about 12" high. Reputedly built in Sumner.
