Binajh 0
Hi guys, I’m the owner of a Simpson Formula One catamaran and looking at changing the main sheet setup. Just wondering what you guys in NZ are using on the 8.5 open cats. Any suggestions or photos would be much appreciated. Regards, Scott.
Ed 143
The 8.5s generally run a double ended mainsheet with between between 4:1 to 8:1 on the end of the boom. This is run forward to the mast base then back to a winch in each cockpit. Running the sheets forwards means you are not trying to run rope through the main sheet blocks as you ease the traveller, and it helps induce mast rotation.
MartinRF 53
Here is an example of a winch-less system on a boat that is slightly smaller than an Open 8.5. /Martin
