smithy09 50
What's the history on that boat? Looks nice, and a nice price too..
marinheiro 352
she was designed by Davidson for Graeme Woodroffe and built in the old shed with a slipway that used to be at the south end of Orewa. First of Woody's run of "Beatles" boats - Jumpin Jack Flash, Honky Tonk Woman & Emotional Rescue (each a bit longer than the previous), with others off the same mould or design including Starlight Express, Andiamo, one built by Tony Ruiterman (who also built Anataeus) and probably Whichway (with water ballast) Woody took Flash to Hawaii for the Clipper Cup (I think with Roy Dickson), must have been around '83 and sold her to the US. I heard she was a bit flexible and used to bend a little when the runners were cranked on hard. Great design and very fast down wind
smithy09 50
Thanks marinheiro. Should be Rolling Stones boats though?? Sounds like a nice piece of NZ history. Be good to see it back here!

Guest
Did JJF ever get into trouble after a race to the islands.I seem to remember a boat like that going missing for a few days.
tuffyluffy 76
I heard she was a bit flexible and used to bend a little when the runners were cranked on hard. What?!?! you mean boats aren't supposed to flex when the backstays are cranked on?!?!

Guest
With a bit of luck BBW will pop in and really set the record straight. AFIK Andiamo is the old Mandate built by Tony R, then went to Oz and called Southern Cross for a while before she came back to Wgtn JJF is either the plug or before the mould that was used for all the other boats that McGaffins built. They got longer, wider and in the case of Starlight bumped as well. Whichway is a new design late 90s. She was new for the 99 season.
