Gappy 9
You need some serious experience to enter Parengarenga Harbour it's a narrow entrance with a very shallow bar. Any swell and it's a no go in a yacht.
Shezakeepa 0
Thanks, Gappy. I'm aware that the Parengarenga crossing is very dependent on sea conditions, with shallow shifting sand bars for a great distance from shore. Somewhat similar to the Bowentown bar crossing down this way. Contingency is to continue on to Houhora, or back to Maitai Bay or the west side of Cape Karikari (Te Ika) in an easterly swell.
