Straight Laced 12
Looking at purchasing a B&G Triton instrument pack for the little boat. Also possible Vulcan chart plotter. Does anyone know if they are plug and play, or do they need something special to talk to each other?
Screwball 8
It's all NMEA2000 (the standard networking format for marine instruments) so you just need to link the Vulcan into the NMEA2000 data backbone (the starter kit included in the instrument pack). To do this you'll need a NMEA drop cable of the appropriate length (the Tritons come with a drop cable and T connector each, in addition to the three T connectors included in the starter kit. No cable or t connector included with the Vulcan for some reason). Worth thinking carefully about where your instruments/plotter will be sited, where you'll run your backbone and where your drop cables/t connectors will link in so you can order all the appropriate length cables beforehand. I installed the same Triton/Vulcan setup in my boat. Can either use premade cables or make your own using bulk cable and field connectors which is what i did.
Straight Laced 12
Cool. I have a connector spot already planned within a metre of each instrument
