Tropics racing

Perfect day for racing up north yesterday. Triangle-windward-leeward- triangle with plenty of sunshine and dolphins to top off the experience. Quite a big fleet for Gulf Harbour. Team WT kept with our usual tactic of missing the start by a minute due to me not knowing the starting sequence. Tacked onto port straight out of the start to clear our air and managed to find a shift up the middle but had to dip Bump near the top mark. Next two legs went well, then we parked at the bottom mark with 1/3 of the kite under that boat. Rest of the race went well and the crew bought plenty of beers to keep themselves amused while I tried for 10 mins to start the outboard with the kill switch tripped. But we FINISHED! And won the rum, mostly due to a charitable first race handicap. Don’t think we’ll be carrying that number through to the next race somehow....

Well done - highly professional looking boat with a satisfied looking crew - sun and fun  We had rain, no breeze and an easterly slop in the...er...more northern tropics?
