Guest
My yacht is grp hull S&S 24. I hauled out today for bottom cleaning and discovered a hairline crack on sekg nearby rudder hinge. When i push it with my thumb some water squeak out from the hair line and at the edge of the hinge. The problem shows only one side of the skeg. I am guessing it might be an osmosis on the skeg where the hinge is mounted. The affcted area is about half fist size around the far end of the hinge. I dont want to make this job too big. What is your recommendation? Should i grind out wet stuff and fill with epoxy filler? Shoud i fibreglass the area over before epoxy? Any idea or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks. DrWatson 381
You could post some photos and we might get a better idea. Is your boat out on the hard for long? Do you have weeks, days, or hours to fix this issue? You kind of need to know how deep this crack goes.
