Taniwha 0
Hey i've got a carbon prod and want to put a Sheave Box through it. Anyone got any suggestions on what i should use, or should i just go with 316 s/s even though it would fizz out over time
Guest
It needs water to fizz so if it's dry it's knot fizzing. Use lots of sillycone to make as much of a barrier as possible, grab beer and go sailing.

white tornado 1
Carbon/316 ss is not a big issue. Use of Duralac will help. The big question for these, is how to attach the exit box. Pop rivets are not a good idea with carbon, unless you use a stainless steel washer. Even then, not a great solution. Through bolts are good, but with most exit boxes, you get the inner one in the direct path of the rope, so that does not work. I normally build a carbon fibre sheave box, quite easy to do, but if you do not want to do that, you need to glue a plate with a tapped bolt receiving threaded hole into the tube, for the inner short machine screw, before fitting the sheave box.
