Fogg 427 Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Welcome home Team NZ 2/10/2013 Auckland will host a welcome home event for Emirates Team New Zealand this Friday at Queens Wharf. “We’ve had overwhelming feedback from Aucklanders that they want to acknowledge Team New Zealand’s incredible effort on the water,” Mayor Len Brown said. “I’m really proud of the team, and I know Aucklanders will want to turn out in numbers to welcome them home. “We showed why New Zealand is among the best sailing nations in the world, both for the innovation that goes into building our boats, and the skill of our sailors.” Ngati Whatua will welcome Emirates Team NZ into Shed 10 with a brief powhiri at 12 noon. This will be followed by a series of short speeches and will feature Dean Barker and Grant Dalton. Kiwi icon Dave Dobbyn will also be on hand to Welcome Home the team. Emirates Team New Zealand will then depart Shed 10 by boat and be taken past Queens Wharf, Princes Wharf, Halsey Wharf and into the Viaduct. There are many vantage points to cheer them on from during the ‘sail by’. When 12noon Friday 4 October Entry to Shed 10 will be limited: queuing for entry will open at 11am and entry will open at 11.30am. Where Shed 10 There will also be screens in The Cloud and on Queens Wharf.
