that is excatly what happens at Pine Harbour to that point that one berth owner offered a 10% share in his berth an boat for 30k and the advert where along the lines of want a carpark close to the ferry..... that was one week after the Apartments that were on offer dropped there pants due to lack of interest but removed a carpark from the price and offered them separately at 40k. All of a sudden the two carparks with my berth have a value attached to them, I can only ever park in one of them.
Nek minute you can only park in them while on your boat for boating related activities.... Lets see what happens when they try an enforce that

I think we are about to have the same arguement at Pine Harbour, with the marina company building apratments parking is going to be at a premiuim especially on piers A-D where there will be no parking at all, rumour has it that they will tow cars that park there and take the ferry to work. We dont have stickers you need a card to get past the barrier arm, so good luck to them on the first cars they tow/ticket. I get two parks with my berth and will use them as i see fit

I also think that if you are going to put up a post warning people around certain classes of boats then you should be backing it up with some evidence. Being in regular contact with 50% of all the 1020's ever built, and knowing the survey results from most of the sales in the last 3-5 years i dont see where you could be getting your information from.
I am also aware of the cause of the rig failures that have occurred in the 1020 class int he last 5 years neither of which relate to chainplates
-
havent heard of any 1020's with that issue, a 1020 does not have the chain plate bonded to the hull, it is connected via bolts to the main bulkhead which is seperatly bonded to the hull. only issue i have ever heard of is a couple with massive rig tension needing to go up a size in bolts if the holes slightly ovaled in the wood

PM sent, 1020 is definately the way to go! check out www.farr1020.org.nz for the website, 75 members currently with an active association and 60 people at a recent dinner and 13 boats that the nationals this year

2.5 probably a bit deep for pine harbour, we are 1.8 and have the last half a foot of the keel in mud.

Cost of starting from scratch could easily go past 15k. I have just done it.
Old cabinet was only 35mm insulation panels stuck to the stainless box. I decided to rip it out and start again.
Big decision was weather to put in an ozefridge and utetic system or stick with the DIY option. The decision was made or me when the existing cabinetry was removed and i found that the existing stainless box was nearly excatly what i was told i should build so that was an instant 5k saving. But it was also 20mm to narrow to fit the eutetic plates that were required. I ended up staying with the isotherm compressor and getting copper pipe braised to three sides of the stainless box.
New cabinetry built with 180mm on the bottom and 100 on the sides and top and new digital temerature controller and i am keeping freezer at -18 running about 10% of the time at 5amps draw so i am hoping for a daily usage of around 30amp ours (it is about 90litre freezer and 50 litre fridge). Pretty impressed so far.
But with ne doing all the removal work, and sanding/repainting myself I still spent around 7k and that doenst include the cost of the compresor.
Adding in the new compressor and plates, plus the 5k for a unit if it was needs and the bill would have topped 15.

plan is to get my car there if possible, if your over 25 and have a drivers license your in. Car will be pretty full of gear but room for a bit more. send me a PM. Needs to be ther by Saturday AM

so my wife read my post and reminded me that I didn't add in new carbon pole, dyneema lifelines, new spinnaker heavy and light sheets, plus a bunch of other things that apparently have been "maintained" in the last three years.
Sails is an interesting one, Rawhide is completely norths at the moment but the time is coming for a new no1 and I am toying with the idea of Doyles or even 1Sails, Currently the racing sail No1 is 3DL and the benefit is consistency. With the boat in Pine Harbour it has never had a sailmaker on board, but Booboo did have a look at the 3DL at a BOISW when I first got it so replacing with an identical sail has merit, I have seen a shift to Doyles in our fleet as they come out and setup the sail up for you, as well as selling it to you,
But the extra racing lifespan of a 3DI is worth dollars
The big question is though why do the insist on putting metal zips on sail bags? Best sail bag I own is on the No2 which is about 8 years old and still works cause it is plastic

There is still a compas reading on the display. But I will check the wires from the compas to the course computer on the weekend and see what I can find
-
thanks, narrowed it down to a dodgy seatalk lead, now can get the pilot to move in and out when using the buttons, but the auto button is not working so will have a crack at figuring out why on the weekend

yep it is not the purchase price but the cost of ownership that most people forget. Then you have to figure out what you want. I didn't want a 1020 cause they are 30 years old and need maintenance, but then I didn't want some modern production boat that has no one to play with. So I have a 1020 and I budget 15k a year to do maintenance/marina costs, so far that has been about right, and probably the same money would finance a new boat but that's not what I want. So the list for the coming years includes
new No1, New electronics, New engine, new cockpit teak, new wiring/instrument panel, painting forepeak, pressure water, new gas bottle locker.
But on the positive side I have new fridge, new rudder, new saloon interior paint, new main, new kite, new no3, new ropes, new dinghy, new bottom, new boarding ladder, new exhaust, new electric toilet, new holding tank etc...
And by the time I finish my wish list I should be ready to buy some new sails again and repeat the process.

I get a no Pilot message when it powers up, when i check the motor connections on the course computer there is no power at those terminals, but there is power at the power in terminals beside it, cannot seem to find much from doctor google that points to a cause. Anyone had to deal with the same?
-
Pine harbour is mainly the same, we have a couple of under 30ft boats and a fleet that is slowly growing, I think it helps that we have nice water to sail in that allows real courses and not much traffic
-
parking in fairway bay is it on a berth or do we need to bring dinghy to get ashore for the lemonades?

about 12months old, bent to a U shape, sides are about 25cm each - surplus to requirements now, was hooked into an isotherm db50 compressor. bottle of rum and you own it, would be a good upgrade to an existing system.
-
Sorry going to be repurposed now I know how much stainless costs!!
-
got an ISOtherm diy 2017 kit which is the compressor, the thermostat controller, shore power kit and 1m evaporator plate that has been bent to fit a 1020 cabinet.
Cost close to 2k 2 years ago but i am looking at replacing the entire lot so it is up for offers. Can be seen running in the boat and you can be there when it is uninstalled if you want.
I havent made a final call on the new options so will decide if it is sold or reused based on offers. If you want the stainless cabinet which has a Freezer and Fridge on the front you can have that as well.
Freezer gets down to -25 if you want it to. And that was with only 45mm insulation.
-
two questions, can you mount gas bottles on there side? if so then that solves my problem as my current 4.5kg bottles will fit where I want them it lying down.
Otherwise I looked at the 2.2kg but want the normal fitting as I have had trouble getting them filled with the small fittings before.
But maybe this sideways option needs more investigation!
-
trying to solve a gas bottle locker issue in that i need to build one in the boat. The ideal place would restict the height of the gas bottlet to 350mm but no restriction on width. I am also not too hung up on capacity and i could probably get 3 or 4 into the space so thinking is i can get them at 3kg each replacing the current 9kg would be easily acheivable,
Main requirement is that the fitting is the normal bbq type fitting not the smaller camping type. Anyone know where i could either get an aluminium one custom made or a company that sells random sized bottles? Google so far only puts me to companies selling standard sizes

Want to rip the fridge cabinet out of a 1020 and replace it with one that has insulation in it. I am keen to help at least with removal and doing any if the simple work so I can keep the cost down, might suit semi retired or similar, Boat is at Pine harbour but could be moved ot another Auckland marina for a month to make the job easier. PM me and I can send more details
My fridge is broken
