  1. Yep the 1020's and King of the strait racing was on Sunday, perfect conditions with 10-15 all day and 40+ boats out on the water over 4 divisions.  1020's had three races tighly contested with Max taking 2 guns and Rawhide getting one.  Shokran was looking good in race one leading at the halfway point until something went wrong and they headed back to Westhaven.  second half of the series scheduled for 2nd July.

12 boats in the series still

  2. 13 entries so far including one who will be racing restricted.

Racing is off Eastern Beach and is in conjunction with the King of the Strait series which will see 40+ boats out on the water.

First race for the 1020's is 11.30am late entries will be accepted if you want in on the action,  contact BBYC and email your intentions to mail@farr1020.org.nz and I will ensure you get SI's mailed back before Sunday.

Day 2 of racing will be July 2nd

  3. I have a 1020 alloy pole in the garage. 3.91m with internal trip lines and forespar self tripping ends. One end needs a bit of lube every other month but was used on a weekly basis until I convinced the wife I needed a carbon one. Was been kepp as a spare in case I undercooked the carbon but if your keen send me a pm and I will get the OD and ID

  4. Opened up the instrument panels today to replace a broken vhf and the aerial looks like black tv cable? Given it was running into a splitter and then had short cable with a normal vhf fitting on the end all held together with duct tape I have decided I should probably do a better job. So the question is any problem with using is cable? all my previous boats had the normal white cable with prefitted end. And if okay any idea where to get a new filling as I broke the one I have and cannot find a similar fitting

  5. don't buy the wright,  the name gives my kids a great laugh every time we come into the berth (other than that I think this is a pretty nice boat), although didn't really move for a couple of years so check how recent the photos are

  6. and being part of the BBYC winter series there is already 7 confirmed 1020's and about the same 88's plus the two other divisions so 40+ boats already doing W/L racing in on the best water on the harbour

  7. Killwell tube. 60.3mm ID, 64mm OD 3.91m long, has been primed and 1 top coat of grey two pot paint. Was to be my new pole but have since decided is a bit light, ideal for an 88 or similar. Must be picked up from pine harbour. $200

  8. Got a mint optimist but at the moment it is pink and the boy wants it to be black, or green or just not pink so considering wrapping it as an alternative to painting,  anyone done it before and have recommendations of a company,  hull is perfect so planning on giving the current surface a light sand and then ......

  9. Broke one a couple of weeks back and haven't been able to find where you buy them from,  tried a couple of stainless places.

It is the black plastic cap and it pushes into the stanchion and the lifeline runs through it,  Likely that it is very old but would like to source some replacements
