I saw off the Offender and then tried unsuccessfully to cheer up my devastated friend, meantime dealing with the lump in my own throat. (insert big sigh here)
You two are like two little boys at a sweet shop crying because their favorite candy is out of stock

The 3 Baker brothers re-launched their Young 8.4 at Weiti over the weekend. Looks pretty good, and given their reputations as top dinghy sailors, no doubt they'll be a tough edition to the Weiti fleet.
also ..where are the life lines that go around the boat? they still to be fitted?

Looks awesome done a great job! When would I be able to get a ride...
-
thing we learned.
-sails are f**ked for lack of a better word
-bow is too heavy with the anchor winch on it
-we dont know how to make them point
-our kite looks bloody small from on the boat when looking at others
-foredeck crew is awesome compared to some others
but theres always things that need changing on a new boat to get it how you want it set up
-
went out and successfully snapped my 3.7 rudder blade in half
-
not really the weekend yet, but after school, i tidied the garage, (big job) and started giving the trojan a scrub, and gave the 3.7 a light dust off
-
put some foam down center case on 3.7 to stop centre board cutting the hull open.
whats your sail no? where are you based..
3.7 179 Blood Vessel. in rotorua the foam is actually a jandle jut up that when the center board is raked(?) back it doesn't cut the hull open.
i put some foam type stuff down there, soon see how it works, without it it was just putting small dents in the trailing edge of the boat, and also in the bottom and top of the case...
are you going to the sprints down there on the 15/16th?
also, are you selling that enclosed road trailer? if so i will pm you...

Sat.
Launched the boat at the official launching party, involving lots bubbly and some brown bubbly. Christened boat.
Headed out of narrow harbour fairway and into 12-17knts possibly gusting 20 knts. 40-50 people watching.
OMG. I'm totally hooked. Why didn't someone tell me how fast these skiff things go???
With two people hiking as much as they could, the boat was flying. Water everywhere. Christina laughing all the way out and back in at high speed. AWESOME!
what is this "skiff thing" that you talk off ? sounds fun

but you cant say i didnt get on the wire jordan, when you was trying to get back upright, i was blasting upwind, out on the wire, powered up, could of done with a tad more vang
-
so basically the new owner of it will have it snap first time capsized ?
-
i slept, went fast in the javelin, learned that it is quite hard to right a javelin with a kite up, a cracking centre board and while being blown in very close to the rocks. then i spent the rest of the day sulking in my room because my boat isnt here yet.
thats why
1.you sail it properly.
2.have two people on the board to bring it back up.
3.dont sail anywhere near rocks.
i think the biggest lesson here is not to capsize anywhere near rocks, while sailing single handed in 5kts ....
any way, went out of manly in the 3.7, turns out it was leaking through a chain plate... again, spent 20mins fixing that
