A roller coaster, Man made and man maintained, or not, as per the current one falling to bits in the US is a totally different accident waiting to happen compared to = A Volcano ( please feel free to put in here who or what controls it) on a Steaming, Smoking Island Sulphurously fuming most of the time. If Worksafe was actually doing the job it is apparently supposed / expected to do, NO ONE would have been allowed to land there, end of story. OH, and Ruapehu (Volcano) People ski there every year and climb it in the clearer months. As we all know it has blown many times, killed and injured people near and far over the years. 24th of December Tangiwai disaster 1953 main line train wiped out, for example. Of course Worksafe didn't exist in 1953 but wouldn't you think with all that data re damage and deaths caused by Ruapehu that by their professed standards it would be shut to protect those who might think that it is a safe place. Or wouldn't it make more sense that we all take responsibility for our selves and our actions. No doubt about it Living is dangerous!!
A relevant line from a poem I like, A man who is not afraid of the sea will soon be drowned, as he will go out when he shouldn't. A man who is afraid of the sea will only be drowned now and again. my apologies to the author.
There is a lot of planning done to minimise risk around the Tongariro National Park volcanoes;

Hi I’m lake based hence one has to wade ashore to tie off to the beach, lake is currently 13C.
These look like they may be useful, wet weather and going ashore, winching boat on trailer etc. Any one used them? -
I remember at the time of the Rena grounding looking for information about the impacts of that sinking-there must have been some? Didn’t find any at the time.

Have cycled thru soaking in laundry powder for 2-3 days, scrubbing with brush an rinsing…. Then repeating the cycle. It is working well.
Avoided buying new washing machine 😉

The national guidelines is 0.25 hp per foot, so minimum is around 6hp with a bit of safety margin. As mentioned above only long shaft work well on the back of a TY. Props can make a big difference… look for a displacement or sail drive one

Hi
At some stage in the past the mast track extrusion has been modified for a bolt rope. I'm running slugs and miss the bottom foot or so of track. When lowered top of sail is above my head, hard to reach halyard, put on sail cover etc.
I'd like to re-establish the bottom piece of track. Does anyone recognise the section, who may have been mast builder?
Google brings up Sparloft but the sections are nothing like this.
This is on a N 30/Farr 940. I'd be after 3-400 mm of extrusion. (Sorry about out of focus image (didn't realise until I down loaded it.)

I am thinking about scaling down my boat ambitions and living between a house bus and a smaller keeler or trailer sailer
around 30'. I love the concept of a transportable trailerable boat that could be towed behind the bus, that would be fabulous if it didn't have to be my permanent home(too small) I could stand a couple of weeks or so at a time then sail back to the comfy house bus.
I wonder if anyone has seen a bus backing a yacht down the launching ramp before. hmm maybe a bit too much?
I looked at Neolex 25s and ...... VERY pricy.
As a smart guy suggested, a centerboard boat offers a whole raft of advantages, like anchoring in calm bays and walking to shore. more anchoring and closer access to destinations. Not so totally dependent on the safety of moorings.
Anyone know of a well priced trailer sailer that comes with a dual axle trailer?
On the keeler option I saw this one still on the market for a while, seems tidy.
What do you think?

Yes there are house buses around towing trailer yachts. If you do your NZ tour tag Rotorua, Lake Rotoiti for a look at OkawaBay. 105 trailer yachts in the compound there. Some owned by bus owners.

A team of researchers at GNS Science and Massey University are conducting this study to understand the needs of boat owners or operators. They are looking at "beach and marine tsunami warnings" and "advisories" in New Zealand.
As a yacht owner, your participation in this survey will help inform the processes behind developing future beach and marine tsunami advisories.
Survey can bee seen here:
