Years and years ago, when I had a full head of hair... I sailed with a gentleman that always looked like he slept under a railway bridge when he went sailing.
Walking out the pier to the boat, people would avoid him like a bad smell.
We found it funny as that gentleman owned a major retail chain of stores, and the gossip was that if he tried to spend his money, he would pass away from old age before he succeeded.
Looks can be deceiving as Ashley and Old Girl have experienced.

So are you using: CTB-X Gaboon (okume) Marine Plywood BS1088 or Marinelite BS1088?
At another shop, Gaboon is 460kg/m3 and Meranti is 480-500kg/m3 so not much difference in weight and Meranti is more durable. I am only using Kauri 4mm thickness to put in spots I want to keep natural, the rest will be Meranti.
My main concern is strength/durability, price, then look - as I am not painting it and keeping as natural looking as possible. Then lastly the weight, as it doesn't really make a lot of difference on my boat as it's already freaking heavy; it's triple skin Kauri and built really well. And to think they considered that to be a light weight boat in it's day!
Thus buying more expensive and lighter weight ply won't make heaps of difference on my boat. That is why I am going for the more durable/ cheaper ply with a splash of deluxe!
It might be time to stop hanging out with FNG! You are sounding like a boat builder

I've never understood why a lot of AWBs have keel bolts in that configuration I.e. bolted through the hull laminate rather than thru the chunky structural bit right next to it. Well at least it should be a structural member.
Looking at the hole where the keel used to be there ain't a whole lot of meat there... Especially with a big lever hanging off it.
You don't want to drill holes in frames, as it weakens them, the floors should be attached well to the frames.
If drilling holes through the frame weakens the frame, why not make the frame bigger to cope with the hole being drilled through later?

Ummm...
You do know that at some stage you have to put it back together

Haha I was wondering of the teak was worn out or whether water had made it into the ply and rot was happening?
It was the wrong colour

I don't see why she doesn't post a few pics here as well, at least she can see how many times they've been viewed. quite often it can be more times in a day than how many likes she may or may not have.
If she's after a sponsor in the marine game the wider the coverage the better ?
I hear the boat builder that is overseeing the repairs has them working 18 hour days, no time to post in more than one place

Hi Ash, Ok, lets be more clear. PICS on here!! Not everyone uses facebook you know! And I liked the page already....
Psst... Follow this link and you get to see the photos without having to be part of the FB crowd

It doesn't help Scubash's long term goal of "likes" for a potential sponsor but you will be able to see the photos

Good luck with the new boat, sorry I can't help with the repairs but looking forward to following your progress with Stinger

How about replacement plastic zipper for a HH jacket?

Mothership might be able to explain.
When I first looked, I thought it was Ok until I noticed the flooring on the ceiling... I wonder what that says about me!

They are fine, the one below it is the problem child.

Nice wood finish on the roof, is the white shiny floor slippery when wet ?

Offered my assistance in some palm tree pruning and ended up with a spike 2cm long in the back of my finger. White Cross to the rescue, spike removed, ultrasound tomorrow to check all removed.
That palm is going to pay!!

Got Wild Thing back from the BOI. 16 hour trip all up. Got a surprise just around Brett when the bunk hatches appeared to be floating downstairs! On closer inspection it turns out we had a leak in the outboard well and we were taking on a lot of water. A top came off a fuel can and we added a bit of fuel to the 200L of water sloshing around. Bailed that out over a few hours and did some spewing. and haven't felt right since! Looking forward to the Route 66!
Thanks to Luke & Stephen for your help on the trip back.
Stephen C? If so, boats taking on water is becoming a habit.

Explorer doesn't like the home page at the moment but I found it eventually
How does it compare with other cat rigged boats on the market ?
Sail Area ? Weight ?
Is there a trapeze and gennaker option ?
Cost ?
Looks pretty good for fat buggers like myself, although the top rudder mount will get in the way when climbing in over the transom.

Missed it by this much!

I did the foredeck shuffle on Fineline in the BMW.
I am now wondering where the various bruises in a variety of shades could possibly have come from, as I don't normally bruise, and I don't recall anything out of the ordinary happening.

Did some yacht race to Russell? Then turned around and motored home, Meant to get to kawau. had an oppsie and hit a big wave, outboard went crashing into the sea. Next thing in Tutukaka rebuilding the outboard and then headed home via Kawau to watch the oval ball get kicked around!
Huge weekend and a great tour! Sleep time now...
Found a boat drifting off Tutukaka without a motor, the skipper offered a tow. Last seen drifting towards the marina under headsail and paddle power.

Whale watching near Gulf Harbour during the Gold Cup - well worth the cost of sitting on the rail for hours on end.
3 water spouts spotted at the same time.
