5 Days is a bit hopefull,Last delivery I did from Auckland to Nelson in July took a month,Strong southerlys are prevalent in winter.Getting down from Napier can be an issue.Next time I would go down west coast for sure.Can stop in New Plymouth if forecast is dodgy.

Boat was 37 feet and it was a direct run to Nelson so was well away fron Stephens,I was up at Port Hardy about a month ago for a family cruise and have spent a fair amount of time spearfishing around the top of Durville,and have a great respect for the current and overfalls up there,Great spot though,Anchoring in the sounds can be a pita with strong winds funneling down if I was spending time their I would join the Mana or Pelorus yacht club and use their moorings you will sleep better.I spend my time over the Abel Tasman a much nicer spot.

If your heading for Port Hardy give Stephens Island and Stephens passage plenty of sea room the currents through there can be nasty,Last time I delivered a yacht from New Plymouth to Nelson it was 25 hours at 5 knots so its not too far.

I have had a 2.3 metre quicksilver with an inflatable keel and floor for the last 6 years,its nice and light i can lift it onboard easily by myself and carry it on my shoulders up the beach,its starting to show signs of wear and i may only get 2 more seasons out of it,but it has had a lot of use the kids give it hell.I will buy another one when she dies.

Looks sweet I have an old two burner kero stove am thinking of shortning the tank and leaving the pump and one burner attached to the tank.Then doing what you have done with the rest.dad used to have an old force 10 kero heater on a 35 footer and it kept the whole boat dry and warm only problem was used to get a dry throat,have to drink more I guess.

Thanks for the info guys will head down to boat on thursday for a look and see what I have got to work with the head unit lights up but no pixels appear on the screen so am guessing its poked a very old unit

sweet thanks IT how would I tell what brand transducer is is it written on it somewhere

was wondering if i could replace head unit with another brand as I dont want to have to replace through hull transducer.head unit has power but wont turn on so am guessing its buggered,

Have just bought a second hand diesel heater and have noticed the sightglass plastic stuff has tears in it,what can I use to replace it .hoping something easily available Cheers Dan
