hopefully we'll be back to course c today
and a chance for local knowledge about tides and gusty spots
to help the boys overtake if need to be
-
true, falling off the back would be hard
but he did slip + fall today
once again the starts seem to be of the utmost importance
jimmy threw away the first start
etnz the 2nd
and if etnz are going to slowly catch a few meters on each board
they need to stop losing them on tacks + gybes
-
looking windy and maybe wet, wouldn't want to see pete fall off the back during the cross

Tomorrow's racing between defender Team New Zealand and Italian challenger Luna Rossa will begin from 4.15pm on either race course A, offshore from Takapuna in Auckland's North Shore, or race course E, east of the city near Maraetai.
Those courses were chosen because they were "least likely to attract crowds on-land", being further from shore or further from Auckland, officials said.
Events at the America's Cup Race Village had also been cancelled, with big screen TVs no longer broadcasting live action from the harbour to prevent gatherings of more than 100 people and keep spectators 2m apart.

any wave running into a funnel shaped bay will do that
i think japan's miyako bay is esp. susceptible to tsunamis from the trench to the NE
hopefully locals living in that kind of bay will be told they are esp. vulnerable to tsunami and know to get to the hills just out of town
not sure we have too many like that on the north eastern coast?

LR become very vocal when the wind gets up, they've already had the original upper limit of 25? lowered to 23?knots
-
yes, i'm a recovering tragic too

most of the "passionate" AC people
have descended to the 3rd pit of Ac Anarchy hell
https://forums.sailinganarchy.com/index.php?/forum/23-americas-cup-anarchy/
to do battle with their and other's demons

i don't think anyone here is swayed by his discombobulation
but like billy tekaka? if the mainstream media don't report it
their message still spreads to the target audience via new media

"The media is the substitute for the preacher. That's why it's Jezebel, it's witchcraft. Gotta repeat that in case the media are watching. You're in a spirit of witchcraft.
"You dupe people - you put a spell through writing and you then begin to dictate the narrative to try and set up a culture of evil or a culture that takes it away from Christ, so they can bewitch a whole nation."
"And so suddenly you get the biggest earthquake - I think one of the biggest in the history of New Zealand - that follows after the ravaging of Christ on the Wednesday.
"You can't tell me that's coincidence, don't tell me it's garbage. Come on, if we weren't persecuted that one day, you fellas had got that right, you could have an excuse to say there's no connection.
"No, no, no, no you can't because you went after us."
He also explained that there's a difference between Brian Tamaki the man and Brian Tamaki the Apostle.
"I will say things in the moment when I am in the Apostle, not Brian. Sometimes Brian gets it right a lot of the time and sometimes he doesn't," he said.
"But the Apostle, so that's the God in you ... will always speak life."
all he needs is the orange hair and we'd have our own little highly confused, but certain of himself, brian tamatrump

wasn't today supposed to be the first day of racing before the 1 week lockdown?
wind gusting around our house now would have made it exciting
seems it would have seen racing cancelled with gusts of 27 knots at bean rock

not sure that many are widely considered 'fair + balanced' by both sides
i think 'the economist' is as good as it gets
but many on the far left consider it too focused on supporting business
and not enough on supporting; 'climate change initiatives', increasing diversity', 'addressing historical injustices' + 'wealth redistribution'

The America's Cup match will begin on Wednesday (10th), with Auckland set to move out of Covid-19 alert level 3.
The match was scheduled to start this weekend, however with Auckland moved into level 3 last Sunday, the decision was made to postpone until Wednesday in the hope of sailing under a lower level.
This afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed Auckland would move back to level 2 at 6am on Sunday morning, which would allow for racing to get under way as planned on Wednesday.
There are two races scheduled for Wednesday, Friday and through the weekend to Monday at least, with Sunday being the earliest date for one team to secure the seven wins needed for victory. Thursday is the only scheduled rest day
and if a winner isn't found by Monday, racing will continue every day until one team reaches the seven-win mark.

haha, apparently the main users of the media centre are herald + stuff
if herald are banned, stuff get it all to themselves, note the story above is by stuff
-
Team New Zealand’s event arm has banned the New Zealand Herald from the America’s Cup media centre after a disagreement over the use of copyright race video.
The ban is thought to be the first of a media company at a major sporting event in New Zealand, and follows nine months of frosty relations between the America’s Cup defender, and the paper.
Team New Zealand took the move after it said video productions made by the Herald repeatedly used more race footage than allowed under rights agreements which media companies sign.
The defender said the paper also used copyright images of its race boat in its own advertising, and pointed to an ongoing frosty relationship

well done ineos!
seems the start is as important as they said
no wonder jimmy was fighting so hard for it!
-
race 1 most interesting start yet!
going to be interesting jimmy vs pete
-
Course E it seems
4.15pm start presumably if winds enough
-
saturday confirmed
and no course B, C or viaduct viewing
-
i notice the story i quoted earlier which said racing "tomorrow"
has now been altered to say "this week"
clear as mud
To the delight of Luna Rossa, the Prada Cup final will resume this week — although America's Cup organisers have made it clear they aren't happy about it with a stinging statement.
-
bureaucratic over-reach is what cost san fran hosting the cup when ellison gave up and took it to Bermuda
surely it would never happen here!?

you may have realised by now how much i hate bad journalism
how's this
America's Cup Events wanted to delay a return to the water until Auckland had moved back to alert level 3 to allow crowds to attend, while challengers of record Luna Rossa remained adamant that racing should continue immediately.
there's no great plan to bring journalism into disrepute
there just seems a general laziness to stop it falling there
-
organisers don't want to start racing until aucks back in level 1
more people at viaduct etc.
LR pretty firm they don't want to give ben's boat builders any more time for a hail-mary boat change
hopefully we're just in level 2 for the 2 days
-
so back to level 2 and hopefully racing can soon resume
LR were getting pretty filthy over the possibility of a delay
new ac race dates set
in RaceTalk
Posted
LR were the first to win 2 races
LR were the first to win 3 races
it's not enough for etnz to level the score at the end of each day because if LR are the first to win 7 races it's all over!
hopefully they will survive this light wind and be able to get ahead next week in stronger winds
