I have long thought that those Japanese whalers are not to bright for seamen.
Just go down to the beach.
You could well be be fortunate enough to encounter a decent quantity of the born dead variety of the species which are easily accessed far less messy no pesky protesters and ready for immediate research.
But you need to taste it as part of the research

Have you found the mythical kaipara Spanish galleon ? Or the Viking longboat ?
-
It was a powerboat so deserved it
That whole Sensation Boats collapse, left over boats and etc cluster fornication contained a lot of WTF??
Yeah you are right . Their former flagship is rotting away at port nikau in Whangarei sans rig

It would be a good marina live-aboard . Which reminds me of a beast of a boat at hobsonville with no rig being lived on . Anyone know about that boat ? About 15m plumb bow , minimal coach roof , heaps of freeboard
-
I "think" you are right . The windows at the end of the shed are a giveaway . I've only seen the bow through the door once when I went to see about a dinghy for sale

Just chucked out burnsco stuff , took ages to to work out where the fine silty mud in the cabin was coming from .
It was carpet breaking down into very fine brown dust then silt when it got wet

Good on you mate , hope it goes exceptionally well

Naturists ? Gaye clarkford ?

Name and area stolen from ?

good points IT . I'm guessing The layout/ease use of the boat is lulling them into a false sense of security , kind of virtual reality sailing from the sofa . also going downwind with little wind across decks can create a disconnect from the gravity of the situation . They wouldn't be smiling if they had to heave to for reefing or dropping the main in 50 knots

I wish my lounge and dining area could do 15 knots

I know the feeling mate , being the only member of my family with polarised glasses I'm constantly passing my glasses around for kids/wife to see that "$&@! Kingie" that just cruised past .
Never seen polarised in kids sizes but rebel sport does cheap polarised glasses for around $30 or so or you could pop some lenses out and dremel them down to fit kids frames .

The Parua bay ones are at our club . we are trying to provide a next step up for our youth sailors once they finish in the 420s and boost our trailer yacht racing at the same time .
Looking at racetrack and the yacht register there's about 10-15 active boats out there...

Heading towards Shelley bay motorway at night you would be looking at hundreds of moving red tail lights ...if recreational boat was heading up harbour the port light would blend in with with the tail lights and masthead would blend in with head lights if it was a fizz boat or launch .
Maybe mast head strobes for all vessels would minimise the risk ? I know it's another expense and regulation but far less hassle than being run over at night .

Our club is looking to boost its fleet of almost three 650s
Anyone know of any unused 650s languishing in sheds or backyards ?
Or boats that don't get used and "might" be for sale ?
Sliding hatch catch

Greetings folks
I'm in the process of getting my boat up to cat 3 and I'm kind of stumped on how to make the coach roof sliding hatches lockable/unlock able from above and below with washboards in place .
Keen to hear everyone's different setups . I'm sure there are some ingenious ideas out there
