Been out of the water for a while so I expect this will be the new, much anticipated Farr 1020 Super Sport
Been out of the water for a while.... more like been trying to keep the water out for a while!

Funny how the cruising version of the MRX gives them a 2 minute head start!
Must be the full fridge and freezer and better stereo that makes the difference!

I recently put in a 15l Isotemp.... absolutely brilliant system. Heats up so fast.
Very impressed.
The boat has a compressor driven fridge/freezer... so running the engine each day charges the batteries, heats the water and cools the fridge/freezer all at the same time. As the engine needs to be run regardless it made sense to maximise what it does when running.

Is it on?
If so add Hard Labour to the list

$1500 ?

It's been there all ready to go for ages, so much so she could have been on the RNZ startline.
Really??? Can we see photographic evidence???

Keeping it simple. I want the boat for my winning bid. The owners wife won’t honour it as she wants more. I have had a legal opinion to say the winning auction bid is/was valid. I’m reserving my right to exercise my legal options.
I have reported the relisting to trademe.

Unbelievably generous of you! I was expecting 18:30! No way should we be starting the same time as Fun n Games... that would be so unfair as they are only half our weight! As the handicap is such a gift I might even consider going solo...
Will make the deposit now...

Too late to put an entry in?

I'm not convinced in the merits of adding the Coastal Classic to this series...
Reasoning...
There is quite a big fleet racing (lots of boats to potentially hit) and being a coastal race you are never far from the shore/rocks/dangers so a watch will be required continuously. For a multihull/bigger faster mono it probably isn't an issue as it's likely you can finish before you really need sleep but for a small mono, particularly if it's a slower race this becomes an issue.
Some will argue that you can sail around the world solo, why not the coastal? But there is a massive difference. In sailing around the world most of the time you are well away from things to hit... so have opportunity to sleep. Generally after the first 12 hours you are in open water. Secondly the type of boats that do long distance solo races/adventures are generally set up better for it with the likes of radars, AIS, collision avoidance alarms etc. Whereas this series tends to see people giving it a go in whatever they have. I'm all for giving it a go and love solo sailing but from an organisers point of view I would limit the length of races to what I felt the slowest/smallest end of the fleet can comfortably do within their limits of endurance rather than take any risk of liability or responsibility in the event of a tragedy.
The above is solely my own personal opinion and not necessarily that of any organisation of which I'm involved with. It is not intended to be negative on what the series has organised but instead get people thinking and debating. It may even have the effect of someone gaining a better understanding of what is required to do the Coastal Classic solo (how many hours do you expect to be sailing for?) and adding some more safety equipment and/or having a better plan...

By the time you relaunch the Reptile Knot Me.... Carbon will be old school and there will be a new wonder material!

Saw Maara strobe waaaaay before Bean Rock light. For a long while we debated wether or not Bean Rock actually had a functioning light anymore, such was the light pollution from behind. We knew there was a marker post to the North of the lighthouse but didn't realise it was unlit. Not being used to sailing in that area I was surprised to see boats leaving Bean Rock to starboard? Didn't think you could, better have a look at the charts ha ha
Fairway Marks
The following will be deemed to be obstructions and shall be passed on the main channel side.
( a ) Beacon on Sewer Outlet (Orakei)

( d ) Small Craft mooring Areas as defined on chart 5322 including all
moored vessels and mooring buoys adjacent to these areas
( e ) Rangitoto Lighthouse
( f ) Emu Rock Iliomana Rock Beacon
( g ) Red Buoys eastern side of Motuihe Channel
( h ) Yachts shall pass to the north of Browns Island Beacon

Bit late now... but I've only just seen the thread.
Anyway the thoughts on the affect on trim by moving the fin aft 60mm I think were missing a key consideration.
The function of the fin (other than a means of attaching the bulb) is to provide lateral resistance (and even better lift) to stop the boat going sideways. It's position is important to ensure a balanced boat. My thoughts would be to position it in the best possible place in this regard and then adjust the trim by shifting the bulb either fore or aft on the bottom of the fin.
Anyway, hopefully it's all worked out well.

Don’t call it too early... forecast is to reduce and the first half is all downwind anyway...giving more time for wind to drop for the bash home.
I’m keen to sail even if ending up two handed...might just go out regardless.
