It's $80 to enter a RNZYS Wednesday night race if your not a RNZYS member and want to enter on the day. Nah, I'll just go for a nice afternoon sail thanks!

I built my system using Winston Cells and the REC BMS that talks to the Victron Cerbo GX, MMPT and Inverter.
It's been in the boat 2.5 years now, done the usual Xmas cruises, a 6 month trip to the islands and the we often run a dehumidifier off the inverter while sitting on the mooring so the batteries haven't had an easy run. They have just dropped from 99% State of Health to 98%, so it seams they have a long life ahead of them!
Doing the design and install myself has been the scariest boat project I've ever done as there is so much info to wade through and so many ways to do the same job.
For us in a cat, the weight saving is awesome. We replaced 400kg of AGMs and Generator with 120kg of LiFEPo4, heavy duty cables, inverter, MMPTs, B2B chargers, etc. We now have double the battery capacity and can go for days without running an engine.

The last few years there has been a Facebook group started each season titled something like "Opua to Fiji 2022" or similar. Hopefully something similar starts this year as it was very useful as most boats joined it.

When we refitted our 1020 I deleted one of the through hulls where it had a toilet inlet and hand basin waste outlet next to each other.
I have a Y just inboard of the sea cock now, below waterline and leading off to WC and Basin.
Behaves as normal, but after motoring home from a trip and running a fair amount of Salt water through WC and holding tank I can shut sea cock and fill hand basin with fresh water, with the plug out and toilet flushing it only gets fresh water so no sea life dying in system when boat parked. Seems to work fine.
Thats bloody cleaver and I'm going to steal that idea!

Their presentation to the Councils was perfect. They presented a good case and really brought home the issue with the later presentation from the Howick local board chair saying they are worried about pest transition to the Tamaki river due to more boats coming down there.

Sounds like they may have been aboard when the vessel broke its mooring?

I'd bet good money that if you have a look at shoal bay late on Monday you'll see one unwrapped.
You can watch for it here:
(Well if its in the half of the mooring field I can see from my house anyway)

What is the go-to best hand held small manual pump for getting the last dribbles out of bilge, or dinghy etc?
Something like this
https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products/T7KKAN908XXXXX/title/kayak-bilge-pump
or this
https://www.boat.net.nz/collections/pumps-hand-pumps/products/hand-pump-stirrup-style
We use one like the second one. Works well until you suck up some sand (which is always in the dinghy) and then it becomes very stiff and hard to use. I can open it up and clean off the sand pretty easy when it happens, so it's not too bad.

Thanks Matt.
a bit to absorb here. Tui is a F41.
the equipment quoted is NAC 3 vRF AP core pack, Triton controller and RF300 rudder feedback assembly.
we’ll do the pump inspections but did this a year ago and all looks in good order.
Not sure we’d be needing H5000 but I’ll check the cost difference. Not sure I’d be cooking at 19knots with a genniker up!
cheers.
Matt, what is the approx step up to the H5000?
-
Matt, is it only the H5000 that could effectively sail to windward on a cat?
When trying to go upwind, we have to use a compass heading on our Simrad AC12 or older Raymarine backup autopilot as the apparent wind setting is no good. The AP thinks it's doing a good job holding the apparent wind angle but the boat is ranging from nearly stalling at 3kts, to tearing off on a power reach at 12kts, all on the same apparent wind angle! Even on the compass heading, we need to constantly tweek the heading up and down a couple of degrees to keep the boat effectively going upwind.
All other wind angles, the apparent wind mode is awesome. Our fastest speed of 19.4kts was on AP under the gennaker while I was cooking dinner and the rest of the crew were asleep!

The most amazing one was the guy leaving Milford Marina before the tide was in (in the dark) he shot out of the calm creek like a champagne cork then promptly hit the surf and was wrecked.😕 Lucky to survive himself
This Guy? Mad!

I bought a pair of the HDI marine exhaust elbows for my Yanmars last year and I'm very happy with them so far. Delivery from the USA was quick too

Just entered Lady Nada!

When they are checking you out, Customs will ask for a copy of the Cat1 cert and your will not get your clearance to leave NZ if you don't have one.
If you just sail out, its likely no one will stop you but when your arrive in your next port, you will be in a lot of hot water as you will not have any of the right paperwork. They will have no idea where you came from, how many people you had aboard, did you murder your crew at sea and dump their bodies, etc, etc

Can't help on the combability but we fitted the WS320 last summer and have done 5000nm with it since. Its awesome and just works!
On our B&G displays it shows the battery charge and signal strength, which may or may not display on the Garmin. We never look at those (as it just works) so shouldn't be a big issue.

I know the last owner of your boat and I think he had some troubles with a broken wire on the depthsounder. I think he put a new plug on the end of the cable, so you should check those connections.

Great Turnout of support with over 100 people there to support the Hard Stand.
The AYBA/Auckland Recrational Marine Users Group (I think that was their name) gave a really good 10min presentation pointing out that their Consultation was legally flawed as they treated it as just a local reserve, when it is actually a regionally significant piece of coastal infrastructure. It was a polite way to hint, "you are going to get legally challenged" if you don't reconsider and do a proper legal round of consultation. The board then briefly debated how to accept this presentation and next steps, voting to accept it and ask their staff to review the points raised.
I then gave a 3min presentation on behalf the NZ Multihull YC showing how that yard is unique in the region and the multihull specific gear that no other commercial yard in the region has.
Liz Alonzi (NZMYC) gave a really good 3min presentation, showing the human side of closing the yard and that she would need to take Timberwolf to Whangarei to haul it.
Unbelievable, the RAYC Commodore then gave a presentation about why they want the yard closed, including requesting they would like the lease the land for storage. This is from the self proclaimed "Premier Blue Water yacht club of New Zealand." The RAYC presentation was followed by similar one from the Akarana Marine Sports Trust supporting closing the yard.
So no decisions made but hopefully the AYBA have scared the board enough to trigger a proper round of consultation and the yard can be saved through that.

My Understand, which might not be 100% right:
The Yard and all assets are owned by Auckland Council (I guess actually the Orakei Local Board as local boards own all their reserves) and you get a bill from Auckland Council when you use the yard.
STF (https://www.stfgroup.co.nz/ are contracted to run the yard on behalf of Council. They do a great job but seem to struggle with no investment in the yard from its owner.
I've had nothing but good dealings with Jonny and the rest of the team running the yard.

Do mulitis have lifeline exemptions?
Multis have a separate set of rules for lifelines that allows a few different options, one of which is just jackstays and harnesses.

Looking at the entries there’s no piedies . Are they not getting a lifeline exemption ?
The Piedys have put together a proposal to YNZ to ask for a Class exemption from the Lifelines. Fingers crossed they can get it sorted in time as i would be awesome to see a fleet of Piedys on the line!

The Landing already has the appropriate washdown and stormwater treatment facilities for the boat yard and this is one of the reasons people are prepare to fight for it.
It has a diverter for the washdown pad that sends the wash water to sewer when the waterblaster is in use and stormwater when the pad is clean. The stormwater from the whole yard drains to a sand filter to make sure no contaminants get into the harbour.
The Yard worked hard to get a "Blue Ribbon" Environmental accreditation to show how clean it was. Westhaven Marina also got the same accreditation.
During the consultation, Ngati Whatua Orakei submitted in support of Option 1 (Keep the Haulout as is), so Iwi are OK with the operation.
