This is Kicks keel, not the latest design but step up from the Jandal and has the diesel tank in the fin.
Draught of 2.3 which i believe is a common depth for the new keel?
Unsure if this is the original keel or not?
-
Kick’s builder/first owner Ian Harvey and plenty of other guys who sailed on her are still around the BBYC area (Ian may be up in the islands on his yacht by now). Easy to put you in touch with them. You know about the cockpit mods, also the keel was quite different to the standard jandal (maybe the same as backchat?) and I believe the mast is taller than all the other boats. The boat needs the runners on to perform.
Plenty of info around on the others, there have been lots that have had keel mods and various prod and square top setups.
With Fineline, Spearhead and Kick imported back here now, I wonder if there are any more in Aus.
What is different about Back Chat?
-
Yes rig is definately taller and hear it was 790mm taller and she was launched with a deeper keel without jandal, unsure if the current keel is the original? And also raised cockpit with out seats.
I may be wrong but heard Ian is the foremena for Craig Partridge Yachts? Or is that old news?

There is a 10.5 cheap compared to the one forsale in NZ. http://www.yoti.com.au/listing/elliott-10-5-high-anxiety
I had a look on that 1 while i was over in aus doing survey on Kick and it has soft patches in the deck.
I wouldnt even say it is comparable to squealer.

I am really interested to hear about the history, the differences, weights and anything you know about all the 1050’s and hopefully I will learn something about Kick along the way?
And go....

You've done a great job on Meister, I hope you can pass it on to another Crew.orger.
Thanks, have spent a lot of time and money getting her there.
I do hope someone out there gets as much enjoyment racing and cruising her as we have.
-
Probably best to just spend the extra money so there is no regrets in the future.
-
Those were my exact thoughts just extra $1000 between the 2 hurts the pocket

Looking at a new unit for the new boat and want to see what people think between the vulcan and the Zeus?
I keep going back to the zeus because of the ability to use buttons and it will be out in the cockpit?
Thoughts?

Typo there? Should read "be home by November, leaving July, via New Cal, Vanuatu, Fiji maybe"
There, I fixed it for you!
Oh I wish!
-
Absolutey, she (Kick) looks like a great example. When are you bringing her home?
should be home by July
-
Fantastic sailing awaits you, regards, John B (Enigma1 K8368).
Will be good to have 2x E1050’s racing in the GHYC/WBC races.
-
I saw she was listed at AUD79k, which is a lot less that you would expect to pay in NZ. Is that indicative of the difference in Aust/NZ boat prices in general, or did Meister just get a screaming bargain?
Hi Mark
aussie prices do seem a bit cheaper than NZ but you have to factor shipping/delivery costs plus gst so that does add a big chunk on and of cours the exchange is going the wrong way currently

Hi Brendan ,
what are your dates for this trip?
thanks, Michael.
nothing locked in yet, but we are looking at end of June once the delivery skipper gets back from Tonga.
-
Hi
has just bought and Elliott 1050 and need to deliver it from sydney to Auckland.
flights and food paid for.
after people with good sailing experience.
Thanks
Brendan
-
Congratulations. You will love the 1050, everybody does. I look forward checking her out one day.
got a bit of tidying up to do when she gets back but excited to get out racing and cruising on her!
Will most likely not do any racing on her until Meister sells.

good work Brendan, great boats!
Be careful of a winter tasman crossing, be prepared to wait for a window.....
Thanks,
yes will definately be waiting for the right weather window.

Can you call me this afternoon. That could work nicely.021 760 621.David.
Will do

Suss taking one over from here. You can probably send one over for a few hundy and have it sitting ready for you to arrive. Then all you need to do is borrow one of the 100's that are sitting around town, sail home and good to go..... using the 'If we Feck it we fix it program' of course.
Just the logistics around shipping over and can pretty much make money back when you arrive
-
When Re you planning to do the trip? I'm looking T buying a raft
At this stage will be looking at end of June departing aus.
-
Is this a good idea?
Purchase a liferaft in aus for tasman trip and then sell for a reduced priced afyer delivery trip. I get my boat home and recoop some cost while someone gets a brand new liferaft for a reduced price.
Thoughts?

I had a good look at Kick as well, but when you factor in the exchange rate, shipping (or sailing) duty, gst etc it’s getting up to what you would pay for one here. I think I’ll just wait for an NZ based one to come on the market - a whole lot easier. I did like the cockpit layout on Kick though - so maybe.......
Depends on how you intend on shipping, sailing is inexpesive if you have a keen bunch of mates or people up for and adventure. Duty is not applicable only Gst after many different stories.
What did the last 1050 sell for NZ?
What do we know about the Elliott 1050’s?
