KM and I looked into a system about 7 years ago. Not like above. It was slightly more manual. The Brush part sucked to the Hull, but an operator had to move it up and down and along. The growth removed was filtered to a point, but dirty water would still be flushed back into the water and the problem was that the Enviro "Mental" people said that was not allowed.

So I can't see a Brush system like in the link above being allowed either.

similar, except he had a filter system,
  4. Cork photographer Suzanne Ravenhill captured this amazing incident from Cobh waterfront in 2013 when CH Marine Autumn League competitors 'Manzantina' (IRL-2076) with blue and white spinnaker and 'Chancer' (IRL-1583) met in the first race of the Royal Cork league in Cork Harbour. No one was hurt in the incident, according to Suzanne. We understand only a spreader was broken but a thorough rig inspection on both boats is to be carried out.

Amy McCarthy, crew member on 'Chancer', adds:
The incident occurred when Manzanita was on a run towards Chancer who was on a beat. Both boats were on port. As 'Manzanita' was closest to the wind she had to give way to 'Chancer'. 'Manzanita' came up to avoid us but as they passed us they may have heeled over more than expected for the room given; we are unsure. Resulting from this the top of their rigging got caught in the starboard sidestay above the upper spreaders on 'Chancer'.

This resulted in the two boats rotating together in which Manzanita's bow raised up significantly (see photo)and their transom was buried in the water. At this point there was silence as both boats spun together. Manzanita's bow then went across our transom at which Brian Carroll, skipper, had to push it off.

We de-powered our sails and at that point the rigging sprung clear, ripping the sidestay from our spreader. Manzanita's pit was completely immersed in water at which
point the skipper was quickly bailing. All crew were safe and unharmed. Both boats retired from the race. 'Chancer' has had to withdraw from part or all of the league depending on the level of damage done to the rigging. I am unaware of any damage done to 'Manzanita'.

  6. Plastic bags bottles etc are at fault??

Oceanic rafting certainly isn’t new—it’s thought that many lineages of animals and plants, like South America’s monkeys and Madagascar’s lemurs, rafted their way to the lands they now call home. But successful rafting events like these are thought to be rare, as common rafting materials like wood often degrade before they find their way to a new shore.

Plastics, on the other hand, don’t.

Bring back paper bags glass bottles and the refund scheme like we had as kids,2c a bottle run around back of shop and resell Haha did i do that

  7. Saturday finally finished painting the deck, dull grey, kiwi grip part of the deck and protective paint for the rest, both seem to flow the same but noticed the kiwi grip flattened compared to protective, using the plastic roller. But this rain will be a test??

  8. When it hits the NZ border. If it;'s being posted in then the Post Office usually sends a letter to the address on the package with costs and how to pay.  Couriers, like DHL etc, sometimes bring it straight thru without grabbing anything but the Govt has been cracking down on that, it is a naughty.

Or mobs like us who get bigger commercial shipment, when the customs paperwork is done the GST and Duty content is racked up on a Customs account and on the 20th following they reach into our bank accounts and take it.

Thanks for that,so my son has been lucky, buys singular coins then sells them here and the little sh@t(15 yr old) makes about $150/$200 per coin,so its only a matter of time then?Buys 3 or 4 a month been doing it for about 6 months now.

  9. Rather than invade the harbour more just boot the import cars off the wharfs and there will be lots of space. Car ships can go to Tauranga and Whangarei for a year or 2.

thats Winnie proposed a year back and Phil Goff supports the idea, commercial shipping out.

  10. just do what they did with the volvos, plonk on the wharf for all to no secret stuff have it all out in the open to late then to change.level playing field!Whoops this AC no such thing as level field.
