  1. both on starboard, cat got ahead tacked on to port and stalled?possibly if the keeler carried on starboard may of hit port float but tacked which caused backstay to get caught, interesting to see the cat crew in no hurry to go forward though,be an interesting court case between insurance companies?

  2. Some great results so far, pity we can't watch any because of SkyTV. Looks like some great racing.

I think the classes are perfect for the Olympics -- although they should also bring the Star class back IMO.

If  the olympics really meant something to kiwis the Government should step and buy the rights or say to sky free to air, like our national game rugby, I am not interested in the Commonwealth or Olympic sports, Oh he/she did well bet their personal best even though its 4 seconds off the world record. Look at the aging Mark Todd, only there because of who he is and past achievements, womens 7s,sour face bunch, anyone else would be happy to get a silver

  3. update, informed last night Yes they a person and the area he/she operated in was panmure bridge to waipuna bridge. And the person involved was to join or is a member of a club up that way. The annoying bit is there must be a few crooked boaties around for this person to operate.

  4. davidson m20,plenty of room, sail reasonable ok,not too heavy, had one for 2 yrs and bit caught out in stuff weather i should of been home, like all trailer sailors, rigging derigging is a pain, fortunately we had a place to leave it rigged. For 10k you can buy a reactor 25 or similar but then mooring required.

  5. So "Shane" have you sold the variant?found employment? yep the h28 very for giving boat 20knt + we have one that races in the club and in a blow we have to engage in close tacking duels to get ahead, otherwise in a chop straight lining will do my cav26. in the light no contest. roomy comfortable yachts, would make a great liveaboard for you.

  6. Last night was informed that the police launch Deodar apprehended a person on Sunday night with a dinghy/boat full of stolen goods from vessels within the panmure pile/moorings area.

Do not know who or what or how many boats are effected.Hopefully not mine will check this afternoon.

  7. no problem paying the fee Wheels, just a principle and it is not the first and certainly wont be the last time it happens,be great if registration proved legal ownership but it does not. Which begs a question how do you prove you own your vessel?

  8. Why should I pay to fix their error??

scotte,so your affiliated to 3 clubs, that's nice,so your happy to pay for 3 lots of fees? and before you or anyone says its too hard to identify which club you pay your fee too its not. When I had 2 club fees I just deducted the levy from 1 club saying it has been paid through club 2,never had a problem

  9. Unless your boat needs PHRF, then unlikely any race officials at your local sail boat club would care less. Even less likely that anyone would look up on the YNZ register.

The YNZ register has been full of mistakes, errors and omissions for years. YNZ don't care, why would anyone else?

True, but quick to grab your money at any chance

  10. unless you are going to race, there is no requirement to bother registering with YNZ or change the info that they have for that matter

    .

yep exactly what i am going to do nothing, speaking of racing, boat must registered and current owners details to be correct?what if i borrowed a yacht without the owner being onboard(absent owner)can you still race?

  11. old thread but appropriate for my issue

Ynz has my yacht down as scampus ii  sail number 2920 peterson design

now it was launched in 1976 with a builders plaque on the bulk head as built 1976    orinoco    2920

so now to rectify the problem I need to pay ynz change of boat name/ownership $55

Guess I just bite the bullet and pay?

  12. C.G is too structured and bureaucratic.Seem to always be on the make for money. In short a modern day "Dad's Army" that appears over resourced. Not to say some of what they do is not worthwhile. A lot of their hierarchy are ex Police , Navy / Army and that possibly explains some of this. I fear the day they turn up to rescue me.seems they really lack people with recreational boating experience.( Marina based craft ).Lastly the constant babble of trip reports on VHF means switch off VHF.On our Coastal passages we don't listen.

Trip reporting for me is quite a good thing when out with my lads,at least someone knows my last position and where heading too if it hits the fan.Agree with babble but I make it quick/simple and listen ch16,or off depending if making a long passage.

  13. cheap insurance being a member $115 per yr,can use my membership on my boat or your boat and do not have be the skipper or owner to get assitance.been a member for 3yrs and used them for a tow 2 months ago, brilliant service.

if i recall properly back in the early days of coastguard,1970s?,use to private vessels used by volunteers and yip you would shudder when they turned up as few had no idea on towing but now days c/g vessel and volunteer crews with the proper training great service, well it was for me.constant communication through out the tow and what the plan was when we got to mooring.

In Shane's case yeah feel sorry for you but that's joy of owning a boat.A) do not go out in conditions you cannot handle.  B)make sure vessel is to scratch, everything working properly.  C)These guys/girls are prepared to go out in any conditions to save lives.

Yes may only be able to pay back $5.00 a week but with no fixed abode or visa card why should they be out of pocket and the rest of get a fee increase?

Yes maybe government funding required but the general public would scream about paying for a service that we get the benefit from.
