  1. Less emphasis on lifejackets and more on speed, distance judgement and wake creation .Most fizz boaters and newbie launchies have no idea of what 5 knots or 200 metres are. Agree with the police assessment . A fine is remembered long after the 'warning' has been laughed off.18 knots in restricted  and sometime  crowded waterway is ridiculous

  2. Auckland yachties at it again ?. Mutually Assured Destruction..MAD. Just like they've done to almost every locally grown class plus having a go at some international classes. Not just centreboarders either .Think it's the air from the Tasman mixing with the Pacific

  3. Just had a cruise around the Gulf. Great stuff generally.....but...oh boy the behaviour of more than a few fizz boaties and jet skiers. I can see why the CG and  R.C have lifejacket rules promotion. And little else. Speed, distance , rules knowledge in these cases are non existent. Anniversary weekend we had a waterskier buzz us less than 10 meters away from us at anchor AND they waved out friendly fashion . Unbelievable.  Same with some jetskiers. 5 knots seems to be just off the plane. Not advocating for more rules here or licensing because it would only affect the good guys . My suggestion is more emphasis on how far 200 meters is, 30 meters and 5knots speed judgement

  4. You're right AJ. But under the new way Government of Jacinderella it's kindness, understanding, education and reward. The land of milk and honey. It's why the world is beating a path to our door. We even pay for certain sectors of the population to get a drivers license. .Fully expect that soon the blowflies of the ocean  will get the same consideration

  5. Aw c'mon Zozza. Of course it wasn't Jacinderella's fault. Anyone can see that it was the National partys' fault for creating a financial environment where people who want to get off their tails  can make enough money to pay taxes to keep Jacindas mob  and have a bit more to buy a launch that unfortunately hit a reef thereby providing more opportunity for those with the handout mentality to take a bit more !

  6. Yeah...we get around there occasionally and would also support. BUT...it's OK for divers but how about those boats who don't ,can't ,won't dive. Is that fair ? I've seen the damage dredges to the beds...So a total ban is good while the powers that be work on the fairness and equity thing for non diving recreational boaties

  7. Go for it KM.The snowflakes deserve that. I've got similar stupidity going on at the moment.I'll take your line I think.Where theres a traceable trail they already have the info they need. Gross invasion of privacy but hey, thats what a minority of NZ voted for ...and they think they're a majority.!!!!!

  8. Some good advice in there. Go for a diesel inboard, fibreglass hull & deck ,and above all go for a boat that doesn't need TLC,or work.  You'll soon burn up the price difference and still have a boat worth what you originally  paid.

  9. Quite right Priscilla ---- and general DISarming of the population, or at least the law abiding  population. We're all exposed to the same sort of threat of the individual facing the might of the State.. And individual rights are under continuous threat in favour of the so called common good.

  10. I  remain of the opinion that whether or not he did it he should never have been convicted on the evidence presented at the trial. Too many speculative opinions ,changed evidence  and police shenanigans. Read the transcript and it doesn't make enough to convince you beyond reasonable doubt. I read about Guy Wallace in the media the other day saying he was pleased Watson was there because Wallace reckoned he was next on the list for a conviction. Watson is reported to sometimes be sullen and angry in gaol and that's why he's not ready for parole after 22 years. Just say he didn't do it and put yourself in his place . You'd be sullen and angry too ?. IMO there's too much doubt. He's done 22 years, parole him now....no new (expensive) trial and no payout if a new trial finds him not guilty

  11. Don't buy a Parsun. I've been to the 'factory' in Hainan where they make them . Parsun, Sail & another whose name I've forgotten...same motor with different badge.. Suffice to say they are not well made. But they look good brand new. Stay with the tried and trusted brands if you want reliability and longevity.

  12. Thanks all especially Luigi. That's nice !. Unfortunately it seems you misunderstood. It's the wooden transom that's come away from the rubberised / PVC insert frame. The dinghy itself is in primo condition and what's happened is a glue failure. Thx IT.
