Yeah havent thought that far apart there Craig! You know me - I dont plan that far ahead! Was thinking of ply, or teak veneer ply but the point above is probably true too.... Hmm i want something not too heavy so the guys dont make me keep removing it from the boat!

Thanks to those that suggested Mitchells joinery - I have had a great experience dealing with them so far - very well priced and prompt replies. For something that seemed hard to do (Making the teak edging for the table) they have made it all very easy for me - so i can highly recommend dealing with them too Cheers guys

OK guys - need a bit of advice... Going to build a table for cruising on the 88.. (Unless anyone has an 88 table they want to sell!). Thinking of doing the capping/moulding around the edge the easy way and buying pre-made teak moulding. I see fosters sell some - http://www.fostersshipchandlery.co.nz/a ... -TEAK.html Is there anywhere else you can get it direct? (So i dont have to pay $30 per corner and $100 each side! - Will get quite expensive). It doesnt need to be teak i dont think - other suggestions welcome - Likewise where is the best place to get the timber (Ply?) for the

Potentially to do with the salt works they had there in 1890's?

What happened in the end with the old boat? I saw it at Kawau on anniversary weekend, did someone buy it off insurance and repair it all?

After anti fouling Mercenary a few weeks ago when it sold, i decided to Antifoul the new boat, and get it all looking mint too!! So a weekend of sanding, priming and spraying antifoul, Cut and polishing the top sides. Mercenary always had International Ultra antifoul and i found it awesome, but the new boat had Altex number 5. We went with the same over it, it didnt spray as easily, but seeing as it lasted 2 years last time after being rolled we'll we will see how it goes after being airless sprayed by me! now thanks to the team at Boatspray in Halfmoon bay - The prop has been re-prop-sp

Ah yes my boating scenario... Well yesterday was the last race Team Mercenary had on the boat, thanks Sean for lending it to us for one last ride... As to whats next. I was hoping a 100foot canter, but my bank manager wouldnt lend me enough. So im not sure now!! Tossing up all options at the moment, but it is moving from the sportboaty side more towards the cruising side. Maybe an 88, maybe not so working it all out! No exciting news here yet...

Forgot to mention you put the boat on the market! Dont tell me the piedy is "the next project"!!

Could you not change the top plate hole spacings? So that the fin can stay in the same place but the bolt holes are 60mm moved either side of the keel floors? If you are moving the fin aft then you could always keep the bulb further forward so it stays where it is meant to be too? Although watching the other 930's sail upwind in the simrad with the helms around their necks as they try reach upwind we did come to the conclusion the keel fins could be a touch more aft to keep the balance a little nicer on the stern hung rudders!

You did it Tim! Just not quite before July 2012... Surely Russell still needs to buy beer though!

And that leads into what next weekends achievement will probably be! Fixing this weekends achievement

Well what a weekend... And one hell of a dusty mess i spent this arvo cleaning up. Saturday i started "Re-Structuring" the Mercenary. This involved Acro-Props downstairs to take the load off the main bulkhead and cabin top so i could strengthen it up all in the name of getting a stiffer structure to take the ever increasing rig loads. Next i glued in the Carbon and Foam Knee's i had pre-made the week before. A few layers of carbon Uni's and Carbon DB and some foam - Light and seriously strong. These got glued in where the window mullions used to be to try to stop the cabin top bending and

And at the end of the day the old one only snapped because it fell down the case note because it wasnt strong enough... So spending the time preventing it fall down the case is better than thinking about what Core is better aye mr Wolf!

Yeah we had to get to the dock to repair the outboard sadly. Then once it was going we thought about coming out and anchoring up but figured the party would have ended!

We got towed in from North Gable by Fineline up to the island then we used the washboard and rocked/sculled the boat into the marina. Didnt actually take that long. Got it up to 2 knots like that, Gotta love an easily driven boat!!

Did some yacht race to Russell? Then turned around and motored home, Meant to get to kawau. had an oppsie and hit a big wave, outboard went crashing into the sea. Next thing in Tutukaka rebuilding the outboard and then headed home via Kawau to watch the oval ball get kicked around! Huge weekend and a great tour! Sleep time now...
