Decision just been made, it’s an open division so won’t be split, if you want to change let us know as per above
Next year we may have under 12.5m short course and over 11.5m medium course as this seems clearly to be what’s wanted, but it’s too late to change now that people have entered.
Being over popular is a problem that we just need to suffer I guess
Crazy to have 44 boats in one division, when all other divisions have between 6 and 18 boats.
Last year there were 2 divisions based on boat length: 'Baltic 4 10.4 or Less' and 'Baltic 4 10.41 or More'.Is it possible to split this division now?

Could be a drifter. What's the bet they will send us on the short course, so the race officer can get home to watch the rugby! 😁

My 406G expired last year. I contacted GME and could have replaced the batteries for $240. New ones would have lasted 6 years.
Did the maths and bought a new MT600G with 10 year batteries.
Cost was around $40 per year for old unit with 6 years life, versus $40 per year for new unit with 10 year span.

What do you do with the old GME units, apart from sending them to the tip and triggering an alert?
I took mine to the local police station, who then send it to Beacons NZ to be disposed of properly.

It's interesting how the shortest course option for most boats is the most popular....
The other reason boats may be entering this division is because no PHRF is required.
So to prevent this division becoming overloaded, SSANZ could either:
a) require PHRFs for all divisions
b) allow boats in longer divisions to use previous/expired PHRFs. -
There appear to be a few rogue entries in Evolution Sails 2 division.
NOR states handicap should be less than 0.750.
But boats like Prowler, Omega, Bullistic, Favourite and others are well over 0.850! -
This is probably the most thoroughly detailed and researched NZ sailing book ever.

I have seen fresh water flushing systems on yachts with raw water cooled engines. I guess it could work with a heat exchanger too.

Is there an amendment to the SI's?
There is now:
https://www.ssanz.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/2022-Triple-Series-Amendment-1-SI.pdf
They have switched Evolution Sails 2 and 3 in the SIs, to make it consistent with the NOR, Entry Guide, and Entry Form. Flag colours remain the same.- 1

Should Farr 1020's have their own division?
-
There has been a mixup with the divisions. Evolution Sails 2 and 3 are round the wrong way in the Sailing Instructions. So 24 boats have inadvertently entered the cruising division.

This is crazy. NZ's biggest marina, and no hardstand/ haulout nearby. How does this happen. Where is the planning, where is the foresight?
We used to have sailmakers, riggers, boatbuilders, chandlers, bookshops. Now most are gone. Why didn't the council create a marine precinct with low rates and low rents only allowed for marine businesses?
What a disaster!

This is really bad news. 😭

And at Orams they have redeveloped the old hardstand area, so much less room for small yachts in the area sheltered by the buildings.

The new CEO said that they have to make around 1000 manual interventions per ship to get the automation to work. Seems problematic!

Found this random comment in the NOR:

In France you are not allowed to gather seafood with scuba, snorkel only. If we had that rule here there would be a lot more crays and scallops about.

A lovely looking Chico 30 has recently appeared in Half Moon Bay marina with brand new teak decks.

Ok, thanks. It just seems odd that last year there were 2 divisions with 24 boats in each, and this year they have been combined.
