but they also now do an analysis on which model has been most accurate recently, to help you figure out which to believe.

Yes, but I think you have to pay extra to get that feature?

  2. Although Peter Mummery was the owner, the boat was "chartered" by a young guy called Phil from Bucklands. I remember him giving away a crew spot at an UpTo26 prizegiving.

"Heading the Applications to Enter so far received by the CYCA is Alfa Romeo, Neville Crichton’s 30-metre super maxi which made its racing debut at Hamilton Island in August. The big boat is currently in New Zealand, from where the CYCA has received two other early nominations for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race, Nevenka, a Townson 36 which is three years older than its 23-year-old skipper Phil Chisholm, and the well-performed Viva, a Beneteau 47.7 skippered by Peter Raudkivi."

Nevenka retired due to lack of wind according to this: https://rolexsydneyhobart.com/news/2005/day-6/nevenka-out/  But could also have been due to disagreements between the owner and the skipper.

  3. This interview with his crew mate gives another perspective:

It took me weeks to reach Jarle. When I did, I mentioned that captain Don McIntyre, one of the most accomplished seamen in the Antarctic, spoke highly of him. “Don McIntyre is a stuck-up self digging fool who was the first to judge fallen men,” Jarle replied within hours. He would be going to court soon, he wrote.

Dogs should be allowed ashore if they are on a leash. I take my dog everywhere on the boat. Usually all the parks have walking trails.

That is incorrect.  Most islands you can NOT take dogs ashore. Any islands owned by DOC do not allow this. Rotoroa, and Great Mercury are privately owned but don't want dogs on shore.
