A small boat that played a big role in New Zealand's maritime history has been lovingly restored to its former glory.
In 1966, at the age of 17, New Zealand yachting legend Sir Peter Blake started to build his first keel yacht in the backyard of his family home in Bayswater on Auckland's North Shore.
With help from his brother Tony and good friend Crawford Duncan, the yacht, named Bandit, was built and modified over the next three years.

It's ok, they were only tendering in to Oneroa from a launch, after eating scallops in Manowar bay.

"The question remains as to what O'Coineen will do with his wounded IMOCA 60. One option is to ship it back to Europe alongside Paul Meilhat's SMA, another to refit it and sail it home. He's even had an offer from a Kiwi sailor to buy the boat in its current state. “I haven't made any final decisions yet,” he said. “I'm not in a massive rush – my family don't expect me back for a while! It's tempting to get a mast and try to sail the boat home but that's a huge logistics effort in itself. So I really don't know – the ball is in the air.”"

Another option is the next bay northwest, just around the headland: Whale Bay. There is good fishing off the rocks there.

We have stayed in the little cove on the southern side just inside the entrance. It was very pleasant in settled westerly conditions.

Think I saw another one in Whitianga recently, so you may have someone to race against.

"... however the arrival in Fremantle was certainly no picnic as we had a string of administrative issues related to Australian protectionism'. In short, the customs officers were calling for the team to have work visas, which were impossible to provide in the timeframe allowed. ..."

The 2 leaders are now past NZ and are getting into some lighter winds.
The next 2 boats are now getting hammered by a storm south of Stewart Island.
3rd is heaving to in 7m seas, and 4th has diverted 150nm north thru Bass Strait.

I'd like Fast light boats, and the DB annual please.

Lucky you still have your magnetic compass so you can cross check!

The skipper was rescued by coastguard. Windsong went up on the beach at Bowentown heads.

Looks like a great trip! I see there are still fish to be had. Were they caught in close, or on the way there?

I paint my raymarine (airmar) tranducers with altex no5. no problems.

Was missing on Sunday. Nearest safe substitute would be Flax Point yellow racing buoy, about 500m away.

I don't understand the divisions.
Where can I find a list of the requirements of different divisions?
What is the difference between Div 1A and Div 1B?
The NOR and SI do not mention these.

Swartie, the Coastguard takes no action if you do not close a TR. I have done this several times, and never been contacted by them. TRs are only used once a search is triggered.
Chrisc, Darius triggered 2 searches, so MNZ had to be seen to be doing something. I don't think what they did was unreasonable in this case.

Team New Zealand is in line to receive a seven figure pay-out from the America's Cup organising body after winning a bitter dispute over a breach of contract.

In Auckland Nowcasting is now on 19, 20 and 79
Coastguard now on 60 and 64.

I guess since he sparked two searches (even if accidentally), then MSA had to do something, to prevent another one.

Putting rig in boat - in water

I have seen a mast put in at Pier21 recently, with the boat in the water. Was a pretty big crane though.
