  1. Awesome! Wish i had my boat when the girls were little.

Singlehanded with the kids. Your missus must have faith!

    Another adventure to remember.

I Did many missions to Mt Ruapehu , just me & the girls. Epic times.

I propped my eyelids open driving back while they slept.

Thanks lateral, yes it was a cool thing to do.

The original plan was to send 'wifey' home from Tryphena and come back from the barrier so she was probably relieved I only had to come across from Coro...

She'd never let me take the kids down the mountain solo though, she's far too keen a skier to miss out on that.

I’ve never seen anyone eat noodles by hand before... I’m impressed!

ha, it's left over fresh pasta all stuck together, fingers seemed like the obvious choice, esp when I'm the one doing the dishes! ;-)

  2. Hope you get your money if that's the case gappy.

The liquidation document is available for all to see on the companies office website.

Reason for insolvency The Director advised that the reason for insolvency was due to difficult trading conditions and legal issues and associated costs which arose in previous years along with rental and long-term leasing issues at the property at which they retail from.

  3. Exciting!

How long until she is complete?

You seem to be getting in to check progress reasonably often or are they sending you photo's?

Have you gone down the name path yet?  I can only assume it's like choosing a name for your firstborn...;)

  4. My open home signs might blow away

I'm quite intrigued to see if Metvuw or Windy is right, neither of them have changed their forecast for 4 days now.

Metvuw says Armageddon is on its way and Windy saying Sat will be quite nice and Sunday will have some fresh breeze but nothing out of the ordinary.

  5.

Bean Rk is 28 gusting 37... can't wait to hear who puts the big gear up (or any gear at all...)

Happened to wander down the beach at Taka and saw them blasting past Rangi.

Whoever had the white kite up was farkn flying!!!  They overtook whoever had the blue kite and didn't look back.

All but one had kites up.  The red kite was doing some exciting looking wobbles back down towards Cheltenham.

Only one was under jib, the rest had pretty colours out.

  6. I'd looked at the Tender Behind and thought it would be way too small for what I need, at 2.2m.

But I only need to carry 2 adults and 2 kids as standard (3 adults 2 kids max). So you reckon that would be a piece of cake?

Supposed to weigh 32 kg, which sounds reasonable, if you can achieve that.

How is it for standing up in it / climbing onto the mother ship / stepping down into it? We've got a deflatable at the moment (that I need to replace), and its one strong point is it is very stable for stepping down into.

You're pretty similar to us in family size I'd say Fish, our kids are 7 and 8 and it's got ample room for another adult.  (having said that we fall into the Terry Wright adult size rather than Jonah Lomu or Carl Hayman size...)

The stability is really good, obviously not as footpath like as a deflatable but certainly not tippy like some dinks I've been in, kids get in and out no worries at all.  They've got quite a flat bottom so that makes a big difference.  Downside to that flat ass is towing it.

The 32kg, yeah, I read that as well...  I'm pretty sure ours is well over that, never weighed it but I'd guess chuck another 10kg on top of the 'advertised' weight, we haul ours in with a halyard as there is no way two of us can lift it on.  Our old deflatable was 31kg and although it was awkward we could lift it up, not a show of lifting the TB in.

Def some trade offs but I like that they're nice to row and I haven't used an outboard all summer.

  7. She be a Tender Behind, Fish. (John Welsford,)

It's really good, fits four of us in it piece of cake, had 3 adults and 3 kids in it today with no worries at all.

I love that I can row it everywhere, had it 10 months now and haven't put an outboard on it.

Downside is it's bloody heavy!  Must be in the 40-50kg range.  Which makes it a pain to get on the boat, have to winch it up the side which means holding a bit of foam between it and the boat so the boat doesn't get the bash. (the ply on the front was to reinforce it when lifting and towing it)

And it tows like a drogue, knocks half a knot off our speed when motoring, no biggy if you're only going a few miles but much further and it's back on board.

I have a set of plans if you want to build one.  (I was about to build one and this one came on on TM for $800 inc the sail so I took it).

I've heard rumors KM is setting up a production line to build carbon ones...  ;-)  ;-)

  8. Found this.

    100mm.

If you wipe with TMK Amazing Haste and spray with can of all in one paint and primer spray can from Wairua Paint Centre will look like new.

Cheers Priscilla, will send a pm.

  9. The nice things people do!

Heading out today with some friends on board for the first time and a boat (whose name I've forgotten :( ) called out they had taken some photo's, called out my number and they texted them through.  Cheers guys, very cool thing to do!

I got water through my dorades the other day ploughing through waves. I should have swivilled them backwards.

Thanks KMC but that's the one I've got that I can't get on.

Give me the width of the dorade  mouth as they came in two sizes and I will scratch around tomorrow and see if I have one spare.

Priscilla, it's got a 100mm base.  Happy to trade home brew if you have one lying around.
