Thanks Erice. yep. but have you seen people stuck inside the cradle at a weird angle?
-
Is it just me or has anyone else been stuck awkwardly in a cradle in the water during haul out, and unable to go forwards or backwards?
-
Vorpal, I like the idea of not dropping out the slides and the longer loops. I'm not sure what you mean by T bar. Photos?
-
My big worry would be chafe. How do the soft shackles and other solutions go with that?
-
Ahh the old Australian trick eh (couldn’t resist)
hee hee. good one!

I suggest putting sandpaper on the bulb. Wink.

What are the rules? Are you allowed to jump in and give them a back scratch? I have a hunch they'd like my keel better than my rudder because it's much more solid. What sort of keel do you have?

It's much less costly in administration to avoid all sorts of exceptions to the rule. Also coast guard is not a democratic organisation - "members" don't get to vote

It was an Enterprise dinghy and sailed sluggishly until a capsize. It would have been better left to form a nice little reef but it sank in shallow water and the owner wanted to retrieve it.
-
I once sailed in a little wooden boat that someone had glassed over so heavily that it sank. There was no buoyancy left.
-
The "app" for that was invented more than 2000 years ago by Han Dynasty Chinese. It's called a compass. Set the bearing you want and walk the bearing, keeping the needle on your bearing. You can get an electronic gps app to do the same. Good luck.

Catching up on my science reading I found this this morning.

Macrostomum lignano - free-living, hermaphroditic flatworm of the intertidal sand in the Adriatic Sea.is a well known lab animal. It has a duo-gland adhesive system that allows it to repeatedly attach to and release from substrates in seawater within a minute. We propose an attachment–release model where Mlig-ap2 attaches to the substrate and Mlig-ap1 exhibits a cohesive function. A small negatively charged molecule is secreted that interferes with Mlig-ap1, inducing detachment. These findings are of relevance for fundamental adhesion science and efforts to mitigate biofouling.

Hard to tell because of your formatting. Seems different to mine.

I got water through my dorades the other day ploughing through waves. I should have swivilled them backwards.

Looks like this, though this isn't mine

I used the soft plastic pyramid bung.

Thanks everyone for all your responses. I think I'll go for the self-amalgamating option.

This morning I'll be fitting a spreader boot. The opposite side boot is taped around and around the spreader and has lasted for years. So I'm hoping for recommendations for anti-UV tape, or the best adhesive tape for the job.

Ta for all the hints. The track opening is quite close to the drum on my boat, making life hard. But I may be able to rig a pre-feeder. Here's a video of someone using it.

Straight slot. No feeder. Goes up pretty well in the calm so I'm guessing the sizing is right. I tried loops around the bunt and foil as I raised every metre or so to keep the bunt from blowing out, but the pressure was still too great in the small amount of sail exposed to the wind. I thought of wool loops but haven't tried them. I'll try the downwind option.
-
Trying to feed the genoa bolt rope into the aluminium slot and haul it to the top in the wind proved too hard yesterday afternoon. Any ideas? Or do I wait for another day with no wind.
-
And to highjack further. Easterly 30 headroom?

I have a feeling there are cradles and cradles.
