  1. A couple more of my favorites.

Rafted up to our friends on the pogo 1250 in the BVIs.

Rogue under gennaker going down the coast of Puerto Rico.

San Blas islands playtime on Rogue with the swing setup and kids from every boat on board.

Its just great to see another generation of NZ sailing talent rocking it on the world stage, gotta keep the production line moving !

Agreed, we have some serious sailing tallent out there at the moment and ontop of that they are also all really great guys.

  3. I personally think that's wrong. What if the bottom has recently been washed as the owner looks after his boat and keeps it in good condition? Should he still pay for the haulout and clean so you can do a survey?

Buyer should pay the total cost for any checks he wants to do.

I would never expect a seller to pay.

    The Cove, Rakitu?

PS, you don't need Cat 1, any BS from MNZ, or a border exemption to get there ;-)

Yup that sure looks like 'the cove' Arid Island on the outside of Great Barrier

  5. Some of my favorites from the last few years.

Rogue Anchored in Menora near the start of our voyage from France to NZ and Motorboat II in the 2019 coastal classic. Poles apart in what they represent but both highlights in my life.

  6. Was certainly a pretty hard day on the water with light and shifty winds, big tide and a few restarts. We (Tamatea) lead around the first 5 marks but then us and Orion got caught out playing with each other and let the Green boat (cant remember its name) through on the other side of the harbour.  The 3 of us were quite close for most of the race but then the long run down the harbour agaisnt the tide with 5 kts of breeze brought the other boats into the game and Limited edition managed to sneak through the other side of the harbour and take the lead only to loose it on the last mark rounding by going too wide and letting Orion through. Martin and his team on orion did sail a great race and set a new record for the most wins (10) in the lipton cup as helmsman.

  7. I have cut many stays with hacksaws and can agree that a good hacksaw blade can very quickly cut a stay. I think there is a massive difference between a hacksaw blade in good condition and one that has been kicking around a bilge for years.

  8. Cant say I have ever stopped at new Plymouth. Can you just anchor near the moorings and then leave your dingy by the ramp or by the yacht club? Are there moorings available to rent short term. I hate anchoring around mooring areas due to foul ground and old mooring gear, chains ect.

  9. Interesting question on the grounding and eventual capsize.

The first few photos show the boat sinking but clearly upright, then a photo of the boat upside down.

Do you think the keel was still attached in the first few photos then as it sank (or hit the bottom) the keel came off. Not a lot of stabilty in a hull thats full of water without a keel and a heavy alloy rig and furled genoa up in the air.

I have to agree with BP on Kaitaia Fire. I love spicy sauces and I’m always trying new stuff but a bottle of Kaitaia in the fridge is a constant go-to. Even my extended Indian family love the stuff and can’t buy enough when they visit NZ.

I make my own hot Sauce these days, me and the kids really power through it, they even have it on toast for breakfast. Otherwize its culleys as our favorite, especially the green one.

Still have a bottle of Culleys #10 thats been in the fridge for over a year, its just a wee bit hot for us and only gets used for Biltong and jerky these days

  11. Thinking I might have to take the blokart for a hoon along orewa beach this evening. Low tide and strong onshore breeze. And the rain will be keeping the beach pretty empty as well.
